Son of popular filmmaker, Yash Johar, Karan Johar is regarded as the Godfather of Bollywood, who has launched many debutants in the industry. Karan has swooned us with superhits like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan and many more.
Though Karan has given many blockbuster hits in his career, but not many know that the ace filmmaker started his career in the entertainment industry as an actor. In 1989, Karan Johar played the role of ‘Shrikant’ in the 1989 Doordarshan serial, Indradhanush. A clip from the same has surfaced on a Reddit thread, and Karan was seen in a completely different avatar.

As soon as the video went viral, netizens could not stop themselves from commenting on the same. Commenting on the character, one of the users wrote, “So laddoo in k3g was his own childhood.” Another user commented, “I'm shocked to see that Karan has interacted with a common man (a daily wage gardener?) who speaks in common slang, in his life.”

Apart from this, Karan Johar was also seen as an antagonist in the film, Bombay Velvet in 2015, alongside, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Although the film did not perform well at the box office, Karan was lauded for his performance. Karan has also worked as a costume designer on many films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai, Duplicate, Mohabbatein, Main Hoon Na and a few others.

Karan is not just a superb filmmaker but also a doting father to his twins, Yash and Roohi. It was in 2017 when Karan announced the arrival of his little munchkins through surrogacy. He has kept his father’s name for his son, and Roohi's name is the anagram of his mother, Hiroo's name.
Karan Johar has garnered limelight for his tiff with actress, Kangana Ranaut. For the unversed, it was on one of the episodes of Karan Johar’s chat show, Koffee With Karan, where the fiasco started. It so happened that in the show, Karan asked Kangana who in the industry had given her an unnecessary attitude. To which the bold actress had replied that it was Karan himself, who has been intolerant towards outsiders and the flag bearer of nepotism in Bollywood.
