Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar's friendship is an inspiration to millions. Their friendship dates back to the time when the Badshah of Bollywood was working on his blockbuster film, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Shah Rukh and Karan's friendship have evolved over time and they have become each other's family. From standing strong with Karan in his tough times to celebrating festivals together, the duo shelled out major best friend goals. For the unversed, SRK and Karan have collaborated on several popular films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, My Name Is Khan, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kal Ho Naa Ho and many more.
In a candid conversation with Prabal Gurung, Karan Johar opened up about his first meeting with Shah Rukh Khan. Talking about the same, the filmmaker revealed that he first met SRK when he was working as an assistant for Aditya Chopra at Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. Calling it a crazy moment, Karan stated that he had told Shah Rukh to change the brand of his jeans. In his words:
"I remember my first meeting with Shah Rukh Khan. It was crazy because I remember I was an assistant for DDLJ. I told him, 'Oh, you know you're wearing Wrangler jeans. You should wear Levi's jeans. They'll just fit you better."

In the same conversation, Karan revealed that Shah Rukh was surprised with the entitlement in his tone. The filmmaker went on to reveal that he had even asked SRK to unbutton his shirt and flaunt his 'Adam's apple'. Mentioning how the actor kept on nodding to everything he said, Karan stated:
"He was stunned. I didn't know what gave me that entitlement I had. And I said, 'Oh you have an Adam's apple, you must open your shirt 2-3 buttoons.' So he just kept nodding, and then he said, Will you give me a moment, can you call Adi in?"
Further, in the conversation, Karan revealed how Shah Rukh reacted to his frank nature. Elaborating more on it, the filmmaker said that SRK asked Aditya Chopra about him. Further, he mentioned that Shah Rukh eventually started enjoying his talks. Karan even heaped praises on SRK and Aditya Chopra for always encouraging him and not letting him feel different. He also expressed gratitude and credited both of them for his filmmaking career.

Earlier, in an interview with Mid-Day, Karan had shared a special anecdote from his and Shah Rukh's friendship. Talking about the same, the filmmaker revealed that during the shooting of the film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he received a death threat from an underworld don. However, SRK stood strong beside him. Elaborating more on it, he said:
"I’ll never forget how Shah Rukh brought me out. He said, ‘I’ll take the bullet for you, you just stand here’. That’s when I realised that this is a relationship that is forever. Shah Rukh said, ‘What nonsense!’ He went inside and dragged me out. He said, ‘I’m standing here in front of you. Let’s see who shoots you. I’m standing right here.’ I said, ‘No, no, no, my mother was…’ He told my mother, ‘Nothing’s gonna happen. I’m a Pathan. Nothing can happen to me and nothing will happen to your son. He’s like my brother. Nothing’s gonna happen."
