Karan Johar is one of the most eminent filmmakers in the Hindi film industry. He has contributed in creating some of the most classic hit films, which include Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, Student Of The Year, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Dostana among others. Not just as a director, Karan has also made equal contributions in helming successful films as a producer, which includes pan-Indian films like the Baahubali franchise.
And now, nearly after a long hiatus, Karan is all set to bring forth his directorial film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starring Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh in pivotal roles. While the film is slated to release on July 28, 2023 and the trailer of the same has already been making rounds, it seems that Karan Johar has already upsetted a section of the netizens with his film.
Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial venture, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’s trailer is already out and the fans are going gaga about the upcoming power-packed family entertainer. However, a section of Bengali netizens have slammed the filmmaker for allegedly showing disrespect to noble laureate, Rabindranath Tagore in one of the stills of the trailer. Well, in the trailer, there is a scene where Ranveer Singh mistakes a portrait of Rabindranath Tagore to be the grandfather of Alia Bhatt’s character. While this scene brings about a subtle humour in the plotline of the film, nevertheless, people are totally upset and angry at such usage of mockery and humiliation for the legendary stalwart. Taking to Twitter, fans penned angry notes as they bashed Karan Johar for his audacity and poor taste.

Right after the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani on July 4, 2023, Karan Johar had gone live on his IG handle and amped up the excitement of his fans for the film. However, he was startled to receive nasty trolling and mean comments during his live session by a section of netizens. He immediately took on them and slammed them shut with a befitting response. For instance, when a troll made a direct attack on Karan’s family, he replied to the concerned person and said:
“Kuch toh soch samajh ke comments kiya karo na yaar, tumhaare ghar mein bhi family hoti hai.”
On June 28, 2023, Karan Johar had dropped a picture of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt from their song shoot for their upcoming film, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Along with it, Karan penned a heartfelt note where he expressed gratitude to all the actors for their immense contribution to the film. Furthermore, he also extended a special note for Alia and revealed that it was her first photoshoot after she resumed work post giving birth to her daughter, Raha. He even apologised to Alia, since he made her wear chiffon sarees in a freezing temperature in Kashmir. His note could be read as:
“This is also the first shoot Alia did after the birth of her angel and I remain in apology for freezing her in Manish Malhotra chiffons … in sympathy I fell drastically ill through the shoot ( a karmic punishment perhaps) Ranveer was nervous as this was his first lip sync mountain love song but he was a real trooper…. So we are back to the valleys for a ishq wala lip sync chiffon saree song… I hope you feel the love as much as we felt the cold…"
