Popular TV actor, Karan Veer Mehra is known as the reality TV king. He was first the winner of Rohit Shetty hosted Khatron Ke Khiladi 14, followed by Salman Khan's Bigg Boss 18. It was in January 2024, when the actor was crowned as the winner and was given the prestigious trophy. However, the makers promised Karan to give him a cash prize worth Rs. 50 lakh. It has been months since the commitment, and the actor has yet to receive the prize money. Karan has lately opened up about the same thing.
After Karan Veer entered Bigg Boss 18, his life changed completely. Apart from his personal life being in the limelight because of his alleged romance with co-contestant, Chum Darang, Karan touted controversy because of his rivalry in the house with Vivian Dsena. Despite giving a tough fight to everyone, he became the winner and was promised Rs. 50 lakh prize money. During an interview with the Hindustan Times, he shared an update about the prize money and revealed:
"Yes, the process is in place, but the love that I received is way bigger than any prize award. I am extremely thankful and overwhelmed about it”.
The actor, going ahead in the interview, revealed that his life changed significantly after Bigg Boss 18. He shared that he made an amazing family that showered him with a lot of love and attention. He also said that the appreciation he received was way too much. Karan felt that it was like a personal win for his fans as their energy made him feel like he was part of their family. He appreciated the efforts his fans took for him to shower him with love and support.
Karan had come to share his side of the story in front of comedienne, Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa's podcast. It was here that he first made the shocking claim that he had yet to receive the prize of Rs. 50 lakh from the makers of Bigg Boss 18. Karan had shared:
"Gadi wadi bik gayi hai. Tab jaake paise deke trophy di hai. Mujeh nai pata kaise jeeta. Kuch toh hua hai upar. Mei toh nahi bhi jeet raha tha hafte ka total chal raha hai. Paise de doh ab. Tax bhi dunga."
Karan also shared that winning the show of Bigg Boss 18 was never his intention. This was because whatever the makers paid him, his weekly income was managed so it did not matter whether he won or lost the game. The actor also revealed how Bigg Boss was a personality show, and his fans and the viewers of Bigg Boss 18 could resonate with his personality. Karan shared that it would not have been an issue for him even if he had not won the show and had become the second winner.
