Elvish Yadav has once again stirred controversy after his insensitive remarks about Bigg Boss 18 contestant, Chum Darang went viral. The YouTuber, in a chat with Rajat Dalal, was accused of making racist comments during a podcast. While netizens have slammed him, Chum’s co-contestant and rumored boyfriend, Karan Veer Mehra, has now spoken up in his defence.

Karan Veer Mehra defends Elvish Yadav, says his words were ‘misunderstood’

Bigg Boss 18 winner, Karan Veer Mehra was spotted at a recent event, where he addressed the ongoing controversy around Elvish Yadav and Chum Darang. Talking about the matter, Karan urged everyone to not take Elvish’s comments at face value. He even called the Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner a ‘fun-loving young lad’, hinting that his remarks were light-hearted that were blown out of proportion. Karan remarked:

“Kuch na kuch log bolte rehte hain, unka ghar chal raha hai, chalne do. Usko samajhna chahiye ki media ne hi banaya hai sab, zyada udna nahi chahiye hawa mein. Zameen pe zyada maza aata, thora young ladka hai, I am sure seekh jayega thoda dhakke lagenge to. He is not a bad guy. Uska shayad tone waisa hai, lahza waisa hai, isliye shayad aisa samjha ja raha hai. Par ladhka accha hai yaar, mazedaar hai, bahut maza aaya uske saath kaam karke, I am sure misconstrued ho raha hai kahin pe. Sorry bhi bola hai, maine videos dekhe hai kuch. Woh bol raha hai ki uska matlab nahi tha. kabhi-kabhi chhod do.”

Chum Darang makes a cryptic post amid controversy

Although Chum Darang has not directly addressed the issue, she recently shared stunning photos from a shoot. She added the caption, “Create your own sunshine” to the post, which many perceived as a subtle dig at the ongoing controversy. His rumoured beau, Karan Veer Mehra also added a comment to Chum’s post, writing:

“You are the sunshine.”

Elvish Yadav responds to the backlash

Elvish Yadav has now responded to the backlash in his latest vlog. The Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner insisted that his words were misinterpreted and denied making racist remarks. He slammed the critics in his recent vlog and said:

“Toh maine khol ke dekha maine kahi kya racist remarks pass kare hain? Maine Chum ke upar kuch bol rakha tha… wo part maine remove kar diya. Second thing, kitne bewakoof log hain jinko ye samajh mein nahi aa raha. Wo log bol raha hai Elvish ne covid bol diya, so Elvish is relating Chinese with Chum. Usmein maine bola tha, Karan Veer ko shayad covid ho rakha tha jo uski taste, smell chali gayi, jo usko Chum pasand aa gayi. Main itna gaya guzra nahi hu ki kisi ko bolu ki tu ye hai, wo hai. Main in cheezon se bachta hu. Na mujhe kisise lena dena ki main kisi pe racist comment pass karu.”

Meanwhile, Rajat Dalal also addressed the backlash by claiming that they had to follow a script, and they did not know that those parts would be added to the final video.
