Kareena Kapoor Khan Talks About Her Pregnancy Cravings, Healthy Eating And Much More!

The actress herself comes forward as and when required, and shares something new with her fans. Not just too long ago, we shared Kareena’s pregnancy diet that her nutritionist Rujuta unveiled. And now, the actress has come again to reveal what she craves for during this lovely period of her life.

Recently, Kareena and Rujuta held a live chat on Facebook where they spilled the beans about Kareena’s pregnancy cravings, healthy eating and so on. Above all, Kareena also talked about the reason she is eating a lot.

Here’s what the actress stated:

“Everyone thinks I’m overeating now, but the idea is not to overeat just because you’re pregnant. Just because you’re carrying another person, it doesn’t mean you have to liberty to eat 20 chhapatis. Rujuta also believes that if you stick to whatever you’ve been doing even before you were pregnant, the idea of you gaining weight or your body type changing will not happen. Stick to whatever you’ve been doing for the last 10 years. The plan that we’ve been following has been quite basic, maybe an extra paratha.”

Moreover, what was perplexing about the entire chat was when she revealed her number one craving. This is something less expected to be craved for. Here's is what Kareena revealed:

“I’m constantly craving a lot of karela, which is quite… very different. I really like the taste, I enjoy the taste. Everyone says add a little sugar to it and the bitterness goes, but I don’t like that. I like that it has a bitter, pungent taste to it. It’s something that I enjoy. And it’s extremely rich in iron, and it’s got so many benefits in it. I’m enjoying all the vegetables – today’s lunch was lauki mutter.”

So, in case you are pondering over the reason Kareena crave for karela, her nutritionist has an amazing explanation for the same. As per Rujuta, when you are pregnant, you crave for those things that are healthier for you and your baby. It’s the instinctive call that make you go for things like that. This is probably the reason Kareena crave for karela. Karela is widely acknowledged for regulating blood sugar levels as well as for stabilising the mood.

And hold not! That’s not all what the Jab We Met actress talked about. Kareena further added:

“I’m also very strangely enjoying a lot of Indian sweets more than the pastries, cakes, whipped cream. I think that I’m eating more home-based sweets, whether it’s the suji ka pedas or besan ka laddos. I’m trying to be as good and healthy.”

The famous nutritionist, Rujuta has some logical points for cravings of homemade sweets as well. Rujuta pointed out that, homemade sweets are low on the glycemic index and have blood sugar regulating properties, which is why Kareena picks ghar ki mithai over western sweets. Plus, this also helps in calcium, minerals and iron to reach various cells where more energy is required.

Speaking about her pregnancy diet and some related issues, the Ki & Ka actress stated:

“Everybody keeps asking me what tips am I getting. It is my journey and my body. Something which I like and prefer might not suit another person. I eat what I love, but follow a particular diet.”

She further added:

“We have a variety of accessible and economical home grown vegetables. One should experiment with those instead of trying to ape Western diet. I can’t live my life eating just broccoli and spinach.”
