Bollywood actress, Kareena Kapoor Khan made her Bollywood debut with the film, Refugee, in 2000. Since then, she has never looked back and worked in one after the other blockbuster hit films. Recently, she was seen in the film, Jaane Jaan. Currently, Bebo is gearing up for Rohit Shetty's Singham Again, co-starring Ranveer Singh and is shooting for The Crew. Amid all this, she opened up about certain anecdotes related to her Kapoor khandan, her parents' wishes and the style of parenting, which are simply unmissable.
From Prithviraj Kapoor to the present generation of actors from the Kapoor clan, including Kareena Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and others, the family has made a great contribution in the field of cinema. However, before Kareena and Karisma, no women from the Kapoor family took part in the film industry. Moreover, women who got married into the family, used to give up on their careers. Thus, Kareena was asked about the same during an interview with the Mid-Day. She called it a personal choice and can be heard saying:
“The women who got married in the ’60s and ’70s in the Kapoor family never really worked in films. Maybe it was their choice also, I don’t know. I think women in the Kapoor family chose not to work, that’s what I feel. Then obviously it became kind of like, they don’t work. Or maybe at that time, somebody said, don’t do it... A lot of people said light-eyed actresses won’t make it. I don’t know if that’s true or not. But obviously, look at Karisma and so many others after that. I don’t know why people were not working. I guess it was also a personal decision maybe that our parents took or my mother took."

Further, Kareena was asked if her father, Randhir Kapoor had any objections to his daughters making a career in the film industry. To this, Kareena mentioned that her father is very cosmopolitan. However, when Karisma informed him about her wish to join the film business, Randhir clearly told her that she would have to do so on her own. Kareena added:
“But my father he is very cosmopolitan. He was always like, I don’t know, I can’t do anything, she (Karisma) has to find her own debut, find her own way and figure it out herself, if that’s what she wants. She did exactly that.”
In the same conversation, Kareena then heaped praises on her mom, Babita Kapoor for being the pillar of support in her and Karisma's career. She mentioned how Babita was always by Karisma's side when she entered the industry, so much so that the doting mommy was called 'star mother'. Further, calling her mother a lioness, Kareena continued:
“I get my confidence and my independence from my mother, watching her when I was a child. The way she would do things for Karisma and me. She was such a backbone to Karisma’s career - taking her down South to D Ramanaidu’s studio - all of that happened in front of my eyes. I saw my mother in a different light. The fire that is in me comes from her. Till today she has that fire for her children. She is always the most excited about Jaane Jaan, or whichever film you are doing. She has been like a lioness with her cubs and that’s the way we were brought up. My father is still very open and cosmopolitan, I have to give him credit that he has also encouraged a lot.”

Kareena also revealed that her darling husband, Saif Ali Khan calls her, Karisma and their mother, Babita the 'Holy Trinity', and he believes in their powerful bond. Then, Bebo also talked about how certain changes came to Babita when the former started working. However, giving the full credit behind her independent nature to her mother, Kareena said:
“Saif says you all are the Holy Trinity - my mum, me and Karisma. Three women under one roof, we can do anything. She took on the world, she pushed Karisma’s career the way she did, the way she helped her, the way she supported me. Then, it was a changing time. She was someone who was always with Lolo. Because ’90s you always saw the star mother. But then 2000 came and me being younger and a different generation, she had to take to the fact that I was much more independent, but that’s how she raised me. And it was no more the star mother. She had to obviously be the mother, but she never came on the shoots. She adapted to that.”
