Recently, Kareena opened up about the same and revealed how it was more tough for Karisma.

At The Indian Express’ Express Adda event, Kareena Kapoor opened up about how her sister, Karisma Kapoor paved the way in the industry. Talking about the same, Kareena also stated that it was easy for her to make her name in Bollywood, as people used to know her as Karisma's sister already. Elaborating more on the same, Kareena mentioned:

"I think it was a lot easier for me because people started recognising me as Karisma’s younger sister. I think hanging around on shoots, things started opening up at the time of 1998 or 1999 where everyone was like ‘Karisma’s sister is getting launched."

Kareena Kapoor shares how people had doubts about Karisma becoming a star

Further, in the interview, Kareena Kapoor shared how people had several doubts about Karisma and how, with even less support, her sister made herself the darling of Bollywood in the 90s. The diva recalled Karisma had to face several comments like the taboo of the Kapoor family. Karisma also had come across some mean comments like light-eyed actresses can never become stars. Speaking along the same lines, Kareena shared:

"She kind of sowed the seeds and I reaped a lot from it. A lot of exposure happened being with her on sets. I have to give her so much credit. A lot of people initially never really supported her because a lot of people said light eyed actresses can never become big stars, so ‘don’t’ cast her.’ Also she had the taboo of the Kapoor family.”

Going further in the interview, Kareena Kapoor praised her sister, Karisma Kapoor and lauded her for her hard work and dedication. The actress stated that she got a lot of love from Karisma's fans. Sharing how she chose an alternative path to Karisma, Kareena shared:

"But she was kind of groundbreaking in so many ways that she just pushed herself, her dedication and hard work through all her films and she became the darling of the 90s. Her fans gave me a lot of love. She did a lot of commercial work and I chose an alternate path in Refugee. She was giving blockbusters. We kind of had different paths.”

In the same interview, Kareena Kapoor also gave credit to her dad, Randhir Kapoor to help her and her sister break an unsaid rule in the Kapoor clan. For those who don't know, there used to be an unsaid rule in Kapoors that girls don't work in films. Even if any established actress got hitched to any Kapoor boy, then she had to say goodbye to her acting career. 

Kareena and Karisma's mom, Babita also had to step back from her acting career after getting married to Randhir Kapoor. However, it was Karisma and then Kareena who broke all these rules with the help of their father. In the same event, calling him the coolest dad, Kareena shared how Randhir has always supported their work.

Karisma Kapoor's career in Bollywood

Talking about Karisma Kapoor's career in Bollywood, the diva debuted with the movie, Prem Qaidi. Apart from that, she also swooned millions of hearts with her top-notch skills in the movies like Jigar, Raja Babu, Andaz, Raja Hindustani, Coolie No. 1 and more. She took a long break from the industry in 2003 and made her comeback in 2012 with Dangerous Ishhq.
