Karishma Kohli made it to the headlines by getting married to the love of her life, Mikhail Yawalkar, at a simple yet gorgeous wedding soiree at an ice factory. The gorgeous filmmaker redefined beauty by flaunting her vitiligo and the way she owned it like a queen, shelled out inspiration for many out there with the message that it's powerful to own it rather than hide it. Karishma Kohli's professional life

Karishma Kohli is the daughter of veteran filmmaker, Kuku Kohli and Ritu Kohli. The gorgeousness is a filmmaker by profession. She has been an assistant director in movies like Kabir Khan's Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Apart from that, she also has been a director in the web series, The Fame Game, featuring Madhuri Dixit and Sanjay Kapoor. She also directed a short film, The Woman Under The Tree.

Karishma Kohli's journey with vitiligo

Karishma Kohli took the beauty standards to the next level as she flaunted her vitiligo at her wedding. Well, vitiligo had not been with her since the beginning. It was during the time, she was shooting for a film in New York City, when one day, she woke up and found out the first patch of her vitiligo in her chest and lips. Karishma had tried every way to get rid of this condition and even was on steroids for a decade, along with stem-cell treatments and naturopathy diets. A few years later, something happened that made her stop trying to get rid of this autoimmune condition, and rather live with it.

Speaking to Vogue, Karishma shared that during the pandemic, her mom was diagnosed with cancer, and that was when she found out that one of the medicines that was prescribed to her was similar to her mom's. The medicine was given to her to stop the patches from spreading. Well, it was a turning moment for Karishma, and she decided to stop trying to hide what she had and start loving her skin instead.

Karishma Kohli's personal life, her beau never thought he would marry someone with vitiligo

After her mom passed away, Karishma Kohli met the man of her dreams, Mikhail Yawalkar, which was due to a friend's instigation. The duo met first with their friends, and later, Mikhail asked out Karishma on a coffee date. In 2024, Mikhail proposed to Karishma while being in a concert of their favourite band. Talking about Karishma, Mikhail told Vogue that, he never thought that he would end up marrying someone with vitiligo, but now for him, Karishma is Karishma because of how she owns what she has. In Mikhail's words:

"It was eye-opening for me, but once you're exposed to it, you realise it's more common than you think. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would marry someone with vitiligo, but I would not have it any other way. For me, Karishma is Karishma because of her vitiligo. I think it adds to her beauty, and she pulls it off like no other. She owns it.”

Karishma Kohli's wedding at an ice-factory

Karishma Kohli got married to Mikhali at a dreamy wedding soiree in an ice factory. The gorgeous filmmaker wanted to wear something that wouldn't cover the patches of vitiligo and would not fully expose them. And it was Karleo's wedding dress that did proper justice to her dream wedding dress. Despite being a Sikh, Karishma wanted to marry in a white dress. The couple didn't hire any wedding planners, and their friends helped them to plan it. Katrina Kaif was present at the wedding soiree, and the photography at the wedding was a gift from the couple from her. The couple signed papers to marry each other and it was followed by an evening party.
