Karisma Kapoor's Ex-Husband, Sunjay Kapur's Prayer Meeting Inside Video Surfaces

Karisma Kapoor is slowly and steadily coming to terms with her ex-husband, Sanjay Kapur's, demise. The businessman suffered a heart attack when he was playing a polo match back in England on June 12, 2025. His family had announced that a prayer meeting would be held in his loving memory in Delhi, and now videos from the private event have surfaced on social media. Sunjay Kapur's prayer meeting in Delhi was held on June 22, 2025.

Late Sunjay Kapur's prayer meeting video surfaces on social media

Sunjay's family had earlier released a press statement where they shared details related to his cremation and prayer meeting. His last rites had taken place at the Lodhi Road Cremation Ground in New Delhi, and the prayer meeting was held at the Taj Palace Hotel between 4-5 p.m. The prayer meeting room had a grand photo of Sunjay in a black suit, white shirt, tie and specs while the frame was decorated with cascades of flowers. Reportedly, Sunjay's prayer meeting notice had the names of his four children- Kiaan, Samaira, Azarias and Safira Chatwal, along with his current wife, Priya Sachdev and his mom, Mrs. Surinder Kapur. Reportedly, the prayer meeting notice did not mention the names of Sunjay's two sisters, Superna Motwane and Mandira Kapur. Sunjay's funeral reportedly got delayed due to his US citizenship.

Karisma looked broken at the funeral of her ex-husband, Sunjay. She then flew back from Mumbai to Delhi to attend the prayer meeting that was held by Sunjay's family. Karisma and Sunjay's kids- Samaira and Kiaan were also present along with his brother-in-law, Saif Ali Khan and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan. The actress did not leave her sister, Karisma, during this time of grief. All of them had worn white outfits and black shades and looked shattered.

Karisma and Sunjay got married in 2003. They were blessed with Samaira in 2003, while their son, Kiaan, was born in 2010. The marriage of the pair did not last, and it was in 2016 when they had an ugly separation after being together for 13 years. Sunjay then got married to Priya Sachdev, who is a Delhi-based socialite, and they were blessed with a son, Azarias. Priya also has a daughter from her earlier marriage, whose name is Safira Chatwal.

Sunjay Kapur's cause of death

Sunjay was merely 53 when he passed away due to a heart attack. Reports suggest that he was playing polo at the Guards Polo Club when he felt suffocated and choked. He requested the game to stop, and then was seen leaving the ground. However, he suffered a heart attack. A source close to the Screen suggested that he had reportedly swallowed a bee, and the sting to his throat had caused a heart attack. Sunjay had a polo team called Aureus where he was the patron. On that particular day, Sunjay was playing against Sujan, that is a team run by a hotelier named Jaisal Singh. For the unversed, Sunjay was Sona Comstars' CEO and his sisters, Superna Motwane and Mandira Kapur, reportedly will take his business legacy ahead. As of 2024, the market value of Sunjay's company has been USD 4.7 billion, which amounts to Rs. 39,000 crore.
