The ongoing legal battle over the late businessman, Sunjay Kapur's estate, has gained pace and intensity. As his and Karisma Kapoor's children, Samaira and Kiaan, have levelled fresh allegations against their stepmother, Priya Sachdev. The heated battle has been brewing since Sunjay's demise on June 12, 2025. However, now their lawyer has claimed that Priya is an 'acute gambler' and accused her of attempting to take over their inheritance.
The Rs. 30,000 crore inheritance dispute has taken a messy turn, with allegations flying in from all corners. Amid that, Karisma's lawyer has made some shocking allegations about Sunjay Kapur's widow, Priya Sachdev. On October 14, 2025, the Delhi High Court heard new claims in the ongoing inheritance dispute over Sunjay's estate. Justice Jyoti Singh was hearing the lawsuit of the plaintiff, Samaira Kapur, and her brother, seeking a share in their late father's personal assets.
Karisma and Sunjay's kids filed the suit against the latter's widow, Priya, her son, Azarius, as well as the deceased's mother, Rani Kapur and the purported executor of the will, Shradha Suri Marwah. During the proceedings, Samaira and Kiaan's representative, senior advocate Mahesh, launched a new attack on Priya, claiming she is 'an acute gambler'. He claimed:
"The lady is an acute gambler. Good luck to her, but not at the cost of two children being robbed of their inheritance. Everything they receive comes from their grandmother and father. You call them greedy? Your greed, Madam, is far greater – and it’s written into every line of this will."
According to Mahesh Jethmalani, the will also has no mention of Sunjay Kapur's mother, Rani Kapur. He stated that her exclusion does not make any sense, questioning how a son could leave out his own mother from the will. He claimed that Priya controls 60 per cent of the estate directly, 12 per cent through her son, and 75 per cent of the Kapur family trust.
"Her exclusion defies logic and decency. It shows this document was not written by a son, but by someone who wanted his mother erased from the estate. This isn’t inheritance. It’s a takeover – under the guise of widowhood."
Sunjay Kapur was the chairman of Sona Comstar, a leading auto parts manufacturer. He passed away in June 2025 while playing a polo match. His cause of death was later revealed to be a heart attack. Sunjay was married to Karisma from 2003-2016. They have two kids together: Samaira and Kiaan. Sunjay married Priya in 2017 and welcomed a son together. However, once the will was read, Karisma's children, with their mother acting as their legal guardian, raised questions about its authenticity.

According to reports, Sunjay made the changes to the will months before his sudden demise, which no one had heard of. Samaira and Kiaan are now claiming that their late father had 'repeatedly assured' them of their share, which was eventually absent in his final will. They have accused their stepmother, Priya Sachdev Kapur, Sunjay's third wife, of altering the will. The suit was filed after Priya presented a will, allegedly executed on March 21, 2025, at a July 30, 2025, family meeting.
