On November 6, 1971, Randhir Kapoor and Babita got married in a Punjabi wedding at the Kapoor residence. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out between the two and in 1988, Randhir and Babita parted their ways but they decided not to get divorced. In a media interaction at Babita's 70th birthday bash, Randhir Kapoor revealed why the two haven't divorced each other.
He was quoted as saying, "Divorce for what? Why should we head for divorce? I don’t intend to get married again, and nor does she. She found that I was a terrible man who drank a lot and came home late, which was something she didn’t like. And I didn’t want to live the way she wanted, and she couldn’t accept me as I am, though it was a love marriage. So it’s okay. We had two lovely children to look after. She brought them up in the best way and they have excelled in their career. What else I could have asked for as a father?"
In a throwback interview, nana, Randhir Kapoor talked about his grandson and internet sensation, Taimur Ali Khan and how the family wants him to stay grounded. He had said, “We all love Taimur so much and we are very being cautious that he doesn’t get spoiled by all the attention that he’s getting [from the media].” He continued, “Taimur is now seven months old and ever since he was born, I visit Kareena more often than I used to earlier. I love spending time with my grandkids, and Taimur is the youngest, so everyone is so fond of him. He is not cranky, but a bit naughty and, yeah, smart, too.”
When asked by a media portal if he thinks Taimur resembles him a lot, Randhir had shared, “Ah! That’s [a] godsend, what can I say about it? Whether it’s his blue eyes or his looks, he definitely has the Kapoor genes.” Even Saif opened up about genetics Taimur has, he remarked, “He's blue-eyed. He's a genetic treasure trove. He is. He is got a bit of Rabindranath Tagore, he's got a bit of Raj Kapoor, he's got a bit of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, he's got a bit of Bhopal...I don't know..he's beyond me. He's gone. Let's see what happens.”
About the media attention that Taimur gets, Randhir Kapoor had expressed his concern and was quoted as saying earlier, “Every day I get up in the morning, and I see a picture of my grandson in the newspaper. The paparazzi is permanently stationed below the house. Now, everyone recognises his maid also! That’s because of the paparazzi.” (Also Read: Priyanka Chopra Jonas And Nick Jonas Are Expecting Their First Child? Her Baby Bump Is Quite Evident)
