Karisma Kapoor Involved In Ex-Husband, Sunjay's Rs.30,000 Cr Asset Clash Amid His Mom, Priya's Fight

Karisma Kapoor's ex-husband, Sunjay Kapur, passed away on June 12, 2025. It has been more than a month since the famous industrialist left for the heavenly abode after suffering a heart attack. Reportedly, Sunjay swallowed a bee that caused him uneasiness, which led to his demise. His mortal remains from London were then taken to Delhi, and he was laid to rest on June 19, 2025. Now, a new chapter has come into the light related to Sunjay's Rs. 30,000 crore property dispute. It is being shared that his ex-wife, Karisma, is also involved and is demanding her shares.

According to an India.com report, Sunjay's mom, Rani, before the family owned Sona Comstar’s annually held general meeting, claimed that she has the majority of Sona Group's stake and is also the owner of the estate. Now, a fresh new report by Jagran also stated that Karisma, ex-wife of Sunjay, is also asking for her shares. Rani did reveal that there have been people who are trying to usurp the legacy of her family, and also claimed not to have appointed anyone as Sona Group's representative anywhere. Rani also stated that her account has been frozen, which has made her survival difficult. For the unversed, Karisma is Sunjay's second wife, and it was in 2003 that the duo got married. They separated after the birth of their two children, Samaira and Kiaan and were together for 11 years.

Rani, in the letter she penned, claimed that she was forced to sign letters while she was grieving the demise of her son. Rani claimed that crucial decisions were made in her absence. She did express doubt over certain folks being appointed to the board team that also included her current daughter-in-law, Priya Sachdev Kapur. Rani, in her letter sent to the shareholders, board of directors and the SEBI, stated:

"I’ve been informed that certain people are representing themselves as being the largest shareholders of the Company since they claim to represent the interest of the family in the Company. I am fully convinced that the documents which were executed by me under coercion and duress, post the demise of my son, at a time of mental and emotional vulnerability, are being misused."

When Sunjay Kapur took bonds worth Rs. 14 crore for his kids- Samaira and Kiaan

It was in 2016 when Sunjay and Karisma's divorce was finalised. According to the Hindustan Times, Sunjay had purchased bonds worth Rs. 14 crore for both his kids and had to pay an interest of Rs. 10 lakh. Karisma had the custody rights of her kids, and Sunjay had the visitation rights. The report further mentioned that Sunjay had also transferred a Mumbai home in the name of Karisma, which was actually of his dad's, and joined the ranks of the World's Billionaires back in 2002. According to Forbes, Sunjay's net worth during his demise was USD 12 billion, which is Rs. 10,300 crore. The headquarters of Sona Comstar is in Gurugram, and a large chunk of wealth comes from here, which has employed more than 5000 folks in India, China, Mexico, Serbia, and the US.
