Karisma Kapoor's Ex-Husband, Sunjay Started Dating His Third Wife, Priya During Divorce Battle

Late London-based entrepreneur, Sunjay Kapur, has been a public figure due to his ugly divorce battle with Karisma Kapoor. There were a lot of allegations made by the actress against the businessman. She even stated that he had tried to auction her during their honeymoon. The ex-couple, who got married in 2003, filed for a divorce in 2014, and it was finalised in 2016. However, not many know that it was during his divorce proceedings that Sunjay found his true love in Priya Sachdev, and they got married in 2017.

Priya Sachdev was once married to hotelier, Vikram Chawla. She even tried her hand in films, and had worked in the film, Neal' N' Nikki. Priya fell in love with Sunjay while he was officially married to Karisma, and their divorce proceedings were going on. In a 2017 interview with Economic Times, Priya stated that they took a long time to get married as there were a lot of factors to take care of, including their ex-spouses and children. Since Priya and Sunjay's earlier wedding was hosted at a grand level, they chose to keep their wedding fuss-free and with no extravaganza.

Priya also talked about their first meeting, which was on a flight. Both of them had a public separation from their respective spouses, and they found solace in each other's arms away from the judgments of past relationships. She said:

"During the flight, we realised that neither of us was what our public perception had been made out to be. The barrier of those misconceptions came down and we kept in touch."

It is worth mentioning that Priya has a daughter, Safira Chatwal, with her ex-husband, Vikram, while Sunjay was co-parenting his daughter, Samaira, and son, Kiaan. Priya called him an amazing human being and a great father. Hence, they wanted to have a healthy relationship with each parent and never tried to instil any negativity against them. It is worth mentioning that Sunjay and Priya welcomed their first child, a boy named Azarias.

Sunjay Kapur passed away on July 12, 2025, and his final rites were held in Delhi on June 19, 2025. It was attended by people who have been an important part of his life, including his ex-wife, Karisma Kapoor and their kids. However, it was his wife, Priya Sachdev, who was inconsolable, witnessing the final rites of her husband, Sunjay. The actress was dressed up in white-hued clothes. 

Sunjay Kapur's death was caused by a bee sting

According to close sources, Sunjay Kapur was playing polo at the Guards Polo Club when he felt it difficult to breathe and was suffocated mid-game. He requested to stop the game and then left the ground. Soon, he suffered a heart attack and died. An insider also revealed that Sunjay Kapur reportedly swallowed a bee, and it could be that the bee sting in his throat caused a heart attack. It is worth noting that Sunjay Kapur had a polo team called Aureus, in which he served as a patron. The businessman was playing against Sujan, a team led by a hotelier named Jaisal Singh.
