Kartik Aaryan Admits He Got 'Unequal Opportunities' As An Industry Outsider, Says 'It Happens...'

Kartik Aaryan is one of the most loved and successful actors in the Hindi film industry. The actor worked hard for over a decade to make his way into the hearts of the audiences, but his journey wasn't easy. Coming from a simple middle-class family in Gwalior, the actor faced several challenges at every turn of his journey. Unlike any industry insider, he had no connections in Bollywood and struggled until his first breakthrough. Kartik recently opened up about his journey as an 'outsider' in showbiz.

Kartik Aaryan admits he got 'unequal opportunities' as an outsider

Kartik Aaryan has always been honest in sharing anecdotes about the ups and downs he faced in his career or his views on different issues in the industry. He recently sat down for an interview with SCREEN, where he was asked whether he feels there is a disparity between star kids and an outsider in the film industry. In his response, the actor admitted the fact and explained that the star kids get more opportunities than outsiders. Kartik said:

"No, it doesn't level. But it's been so many years in the industry that it doesn't matter. I can't say everyone gets equal opportunities. I, too, have felt like maybe I should have gotten the opportunity rather than someone who is from the (film) family. So, it happens, but it's not their fault."

The Shehzada actor added that although the star kids get more opportunities in Bollywood, they are not the ones to be blamed. Rather, he believes it is wrong to compare an industry insider and an outsider due to different journeys and struggles in Bollywood.

Kartik Aaryan stated he became 'shameless' after facing countless rejections in auditions

In the same interview, Kartik Aaryan recalled his struggle to get his first film in Bollywood. He mentioned that he came to Mumbai to become an actor, and like hundreds of other people, he dreamt of making it big in the industry one day. Consequently, Kartik spent the next two or three years giving auditions despite facing countless hardships and rejections till he got his first film, Pyaar Ka Punchnama, in 2011. Recalling why he never stopped giving auditions, Kartik stated:

"I got used to it. I became shameless. After a point, you become numb. But you have to show up. You need a little self-belief. When everyone is doubting you, I think you are the only one who can actually save yourself from that doubt."
