Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan left us gushing with their PDAs in 2018. While many thought they shared a genuine love and admiration for each other, some called it a promotional strategy for their film. For the unversed, it all started after Sara accepted that she had a huge crush on Kartik. The couple dated for a few months, but parted ways. In 2023, Sara opened up about her painful breakup with Kartik for the first time. Later, Kartik shared his side of the story and felt hurt about the whole episode.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Kartik and Sara will soon be reuniting for the horror comedy film, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The ex-flames had worked together in the film, Love Aaj Kal 2, which was released in 2020. For the unversed, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was a super-hit film featuring Kiara Advani, Tabu and Kartik Aaryan. The film is a franchise of Bhushan. The report further stated that the film will go on floors starting February 2024.

When Sara Ali Khan appeared on the chat show, Koffee With Karan 8, Karan Johar asked her whether 'being friends with her ex, Kartik Aaryan, was easy. To this, Sara clearly stated, "It isn’t always easy." She even went on to say that when she is involved with someone professionally or romantically, she is totally invested, and it does affect you. However, in the end, you have to rise beyond that.

Reacting to the same, Kartik shared his opinion with Anupama Chopra of Film Companion. He felt that a relationship involves two people and they should not talk about the same. He added that people, after parting ways, should respect the relationship they shared. He was quoted as saying:
"Ek cheez mujhe lagti hai – relationship agar do logo ki hai toh dusre insaan ko bhi woh baatein nehi karni chahiye. Hum sab ko apni relationship ki respect karni chahiye.
Kartik further added he had never spoken about his relationship with anyone. The actor also added that he expects the same from his partner. He shared that when a person is in a relationship, they do not think that it will end, and one should always respect the time spent and the moment. He was quoted as saying:
"I expect the same from my [partner]. It’s not good for someone to speak about the relationship. If things don’t work out… par jab aap saath hote ho kisike toh you don’t imagine it to be like that. You don’t imagine ke yeh khatam ho jayega. I think you should respect that time, that moment. I think you should respect yourself also. Aap jab woh baat karte ho toh aisa nahin hai ke samne wala ek hee insaan ke baare mein woh soch raha hota hai, woh dono ke baare mein woh soch raha hota hai."
