Ukrainian Skier, Kateryna Kotsar Gets Engaged To Boyfriend, Bohdan Fashtryha At Winter Olympics 2026

Ukrainian freestyle skier, Kateryna Kotsar is one of the rising talents, who is best known for her fearless jumps and skills. Recently, the 25-year-old athlete represented Ukraine at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy. And her strong performance made her qualify for the final. However, the celebrations did not end there, as right after she finished skiing, her boyfriend, Bohdan Fashtryha got down on one knee and proposed to her.

On February 14, 2026, a few moments after Kateryna qualified for the finals, her boyfriend, Bohdan Fashtryha got down on one knee and proposed to his lady love. It is worth mentioning that the heartfelt moment happened in front of fans, family members, fellow athletes and the cameras. Kateryna, who was still in her skis, happily said 'yes' and sealed the moments with tears of joy.

Soon after qualifying for the finals and getting engaged, Kateryna Kotsar spoke to the media. During the interaction, she opened up about the two best things that happened with her. When she was asked about engagement and proposal, she revealed that her boyfriend had never talked about it earlier. Expressing her feelings, Kateryna Kotsar was quoted as saying:

"He (Bohdan) said in Ukrainian if I want to marry him, nothing else. He didn’t have enough time, and he was nervous. It was so cute. Still excited and can't understand what happened tonight, because it's two really huge things for me. Usually I have some feelings that something great will happen. Today I had the feeling, but I thought it was about finals."

During the same media interaction, when Kateryna Kotsar was asked about the finale, she shared that she is nervous and excited at the same time. She further spoke about her family and revealed that they are seeing her compete for the time. The 25-year-old athlete explained that normally her mother used to wait for her call after the competition, just to know that she hasn’t been injured. Kateryna shared:

"The first time ever they saw my jumps in real life. She (my mom) gets too nervous to watch. She just waits for my call after the competition, when I say, everything is okay, I didn't crash, feeling okay."

For those who do not know, Kateryna Kotsar is a Ukrainian freestyle skier. She competes in big air and slopestyle events. Reportedly, she made her World Cup debut during the 2018-19 season, where she finished at the 28th position. Over the years, she improved her skills. Her breakthrough came in 2022, at the World Cup in Switzerland, where she finished at 6th place. 

In 2025, at a big air World Cup event in Steamboat, USA, Kateryna won the silver medal. According to multiple reports, she became the first Ukrainian athlete to win a medal in this sport. It is worth mentioning that the women's big air final will take place on February 16, 2026, at the Livigno Snow Park. It will be her first competition after her engagement with Bohdan Fashtryha.
