It is a known fact that sometimes two actresses can’t get along in Bollywood, and they are open about it. One of the Bollywood starlet duos to share friction is Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif. While their ex-boyfriends, Salman Khan and John Abraham did not get along, it was surprising to see that things are not so rosy between their ladyloves either. Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu's rivalry was so much so that they didn't even acknowledge each other on the sets while working together in Abbas Mastan's film, Race.
Back in 2008, Katrina Kaif and Lara Dutta appeared on the sets of Karan Johar's show, Koffee With Karan. During her stint on the show, the host, Karan asked her many things about her personal life, and being his gossipy self, he asked Katrina about her tiff with Bipasha Basu. Karan mentioned:
"Bipasha and you have steamy stuff anyways happening. You don't look at each other or talk to each other."

Responding to Karan Johar's question, Katrina Kaif stated that he should ask Bipasha Basu about it, adding that she has already clarified her views on the issue. However, she also mentioned that both she and Bipasha are there in the film industry to work and that the latter is working hard to earn a name and fame for herself. Katrina heaped praises on Bipasha and added:
"That is something, that honestly, you will have to ask her. I did try and clarify my views and my standpoint on the whole issue surrounding nothing. At the end of the day, I'm here to work, and I definitely know so is she. She is a person who's working very hard in the industry, and I think that's definitely where she wants to be. And today, I state very clearly that I think you're a wonderful person. I genuinely, actually do."
Further during the conversation, Katrina Kaif told Karan Johar that she is not on talking terms with Bipasha Basu, but she loves the actress as a person. However, she added that she feels that a third party may have come between them and caused the friction. She was heard saying:
"I think she's amusing, and she's quite funny, and she's opinionated. I like that. And somewhere along the line, I think maybe a third party has just come in between and caused this. And I think that's what happens a lot in this industry. Some people come and say, 'Oh, but I actually think she meant this, and no, actually what she was trying to say was this'. Yeah, which is sad because I'm really not like that as a person. I will never and if that ever happens, I hope one of my six sisters shoots me in the head."

In an episode of Star Trek with Anna M.M. Vetticad, Bipasha Basu admitted that she gets along with most of her male co-stars, but the same is not the case with girls. She recalled the infamous tension between her and Katrina Kaif on the sets of their film, Race, and shared that she and Katrina don't talk. She said:
"Katrina and I don't talk. So there is nothing really earth-shattering about it. The tension between us has been created for a particular reason. I know the reason and I know why it's been done and I'll never share that with anybody. It could be because of our boyfriends (John Abraham and Salman Khan) but that never affected our work. We didn’t speak during Race but that never stopped shooting."
If reports are to be believed, to avoid problems on the sets during the shooting of the film, Race, director, Abbas Mastan ensured that the actors' looks and costumes should be designed according to their scenes. While other actors used to get along with everyone, Bipasha and Katrina were never seen talking to each other on the sets. Considering the rivalry between the lead actresses, Abbas would shoot their scenes separately. Not just this, Bipasha and Katrina even refused to promote the film together, so the producers and directors intentionally planned separate promotional dates for the duo.
