Kesari had left a mark in the hearts of every Indian who saw the sacrifice and fight of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army. Now, the star actor, Akshay Kumar, is back with the second chapter of the film, Kesari Chapter 2, to shed light on the painful cries of the victims of 'genocide' carried out by the British Empire.
Kesari Chapter 2 will be released in theatres on April 18, 2025, and the trailer for the same was released on April 3, 2025. The trailer released by Dharma Productions gave a glimpse into the terrifying story of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. A chapter in the history of India that left everyone with goosebumps. The film will feature the massacre that took place on April 13, 1919 and the legal battle that followed. Akshay Kumar will essay the role of a lawyer, 'Sankaran Nair', who sued the British Empire for carrying out a 'genocide' in Amritsar. The massacre resulted in the painful and heartwrenching death of at least 1,650 people.
The trailer gave the audience a glimpse of what's in store, and it left them moved. The trailer showed Akshay's character questioning the perpetrator of the massacre, General Dyer, the man behind the horrifying incident. The general claimed that the crowd inside the Jallianwala Bagh was full of terrorists and was armed to the teeth. This was followed by a series of questions by Akshay, stating, "What weapons did you see in the hands of eight-month-old babies? Their kadas? Or their clenched fists?"
The film will be a high-stakes courtroom drama showcasing Sankaran Nair's attempt to get justice for the victims as he faces off against Neville McKinley, who is representing the British Empire. R Madhavan will essay the role of Neville, and Ananya Panday also appears as a lawyer in the film.
Over the years, the citizens of India have demanded an apology from the British government for their cruelty towards innocent people of the country. While Prime Minister, Theresa May expressed her regret over the massacre in 2019, one hundred years after the incident took place, no apology was issued by the British government. Previously, the 2021 film, Sardar Udham was also based on Udham Singh's attempt to assassinate Michael O'Dwyer, the man who was the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in 1919. The film also scratched an old wound in every Indian's heart, and with the trailer of the upcoming film, Kesari Chapter 2, the audience is once again reminded of the pain faced by the victims and their families.

"Oh my god, this movie does not feel anything like Bollywood. I really appreciate that they made such an amazing movie. The characters are amazing (except Ananya). Akshay Kumar was the best choice they made. It feels like Bollywood has finally started to know its mistakes, and now they are also evolving. If this pace continues, it won't be too long until Bollywood beats Hollywood in budget and profit. Respect for your dharma productions to take the first step."
