Days are old when terms like 'rizz', 'sigma', and 'skibidi' used to make school-going kids look cooler. With the increasing usage of social media, several acronyms and catchphrases started going around. Now, kids across the US aren't getting enough while using a new Gen Alpha catchphrase, '6 7'. Since September 2025, kids have been continuously using the term '6 7', leaving everyone confused about what it actually means, whether it's a slang term, something with a deeper meaning, or a hallmark of kids belonging to a cooler group. So, let's have a look at what this meme '6 7' is.
The phrase '6 7' is kind of moving faster, courtesy of social media, and students across US schools are continuously using it, whether it's the teacher turning the page to number sixty-seven or during lunch breaks or gossip sessions. A teacher and comedian, Mr. Lindsay, who is known for breaking down Gen-Alpha terms on social media, revealed that students are now obsessed with this term, along with 'SDIYBT' and 'You Stole my brain rot'.
But one thing is uncertain: why are the kids shouting '6 7', and what does this term actually mean? To mention, there is no exact meaning of the term '6 7'. While teachers are confused about why this term is spreading like germs, it seems that it's being used among kids as a linguistic badge. As per the available information, one might feel cooler or like a part of the inside joke. So, it seems the term has no literary meaning or punchline. According to professional linguistic expert Taylor Jones, who spoke to the LA Times, it's the ambiguity of the term that makes it even more intriguing to the kids. Communication expert, Gail Fairhurst, mentioned that kids have been using it as a 'language game' to feel part of the inner groups.
There's nothing confirmed about where this Gen Alpha catchphrase, '6 7', originated, keeping it murky. However, it seems the term started circulating after the viral song, Doot Doot, by Philadelphia rapper Skrilla was released. Skrilla was asked about the meaning of the term '6 7' in the song; however, he revealed that he doesn't have any idea about the same. Well, talking about the lyrics, they refer to the 10-67 police code or rode names, but it's not confirmed why kids started picking this term and using it for daily use, thereby making it viral across the young masses.
So, while the meaning of '6 7' or its origin remains foggy, it seems that the term is much like a youth culture. According to experts, while concerns about this being slang are widespread, given the constant evolution of language, terms like '6 7' aren't harmful as long as kids feel included and use them for fun.
