The ruling monarch of the United Kingdom, King Charles' royal communication authority, on February 5, 2024, took to their official site and shared that the king will be stepping back from royal duties as he is diagnosed with cancer. The news came as a shock to the entire world as last month itself, King Charles underwent surgery for prostate enlargement. Soon after the news of his cancer broke, his younger son, Prince Harry, flew down to the UK to spend time with his dad and be by his side at this difficult time.
For the unversed, Soon after Prince Harry's wedding with actress, Meghan Markle, the couple started having issues with the royal family. Ultimately, the couple withdrew from all their royal titles and duties and settled abroad. This did not set well with the royals, and their rift intensified.

As per reports from The Independent, Prince Harry had a telephone conversation with his father where he got to know that he was diagnosed with cancer. Soon after, he decided to be by his side in this difficult time. The Duke flew for 26 hours to meet his father in the UK. The meeting lasted for half an hour, after which Prince Harry left.
Other than the meeting the King, Prince Harry met Queen Camilla. Soon after the brief meeting, Prince Harry left the kingdom and returned to his family in the States. Multiple sites also reported that Prince Harry did not meet his brother, Prince William, or other family members.

The royal authorities notified everyone that doctors had advised the king to step back from public-facing duties. However, the monarch will continue serving the nation via state business official paperwork. Until then, his elder son, Prince William, will be shouldering most of his duties. King Charles immediately commenced his medical treatment after cancer diagnosis.
