Kishore Kumar's 4th Wife Reveals He Once Scared Her With His Mood Swings, 'Janwar Ho Jata Hai Na..'

Kishore Kumar is still the most-loved actor and singer of all time. He is a gem of Indian cinema, and his contribution is still loved across generations. However, not many know about his personal life except the fact that he has been married four times. But years later, his fourth wife, Leena Chandavarkar, revealed his eccentricities, and he once left her extremely scared.

In an old interview with Lehren Retro, Kishore Kumar's wife, Leena Chandavarkar, revealed that he once left them extremely scared. She recalled his sudden mood changes and how they would leave her unsettled. She stated that he liked being called mad. Recalling an incident, Leena revealed that Kishore Kumar left her scared by making animal-like faces. She said:

"Ek incident hai ki unhone mujhse pucha ki 'Leena tumne mere baare mein kuch suna kya tumne itne saal kaam kiya filmon mein.' Mai ne kaha kya suna tha, suna toh tha par mai bolna nahi chahti thi. Toh bolte, 'Kya suna tha tumne'. Toh mai ne kaha yahi ki ap bahut acha gaate ho mai toh apki fan thi or itni achi comedy karte the."

Leena futher added:

"Toh unko acha nahi laga unko maja hi nai aa raha tha or mai akeli thi room mein, mai makeup kar rahi thi film Pyaar Ajnabi Hai. Uske baad mai toh nahi kr sakti vo chehre par jaise insaan janwar ho jata hai na darawana ho jata hai, pagal ho jata hai. Toh vo bolte the or mai darr gayi mai apni hair dresser ko dhundne lag thi. Or jump karke sofa par jaa kar aafne lage, mai darr gayi mai ne kaha, 'Haan-haan suna tha ki ap pagal hai.' Fir hasne lage."

Leena revealed Kishore Kumar changed after getting married to her

Leena further revealed that Kishore Kumar changed a lot after getting married to her. It was Kishore Kumar's fourth wedding. However, being the fourth wife left Leena feeling insecure because she didn't want him to marry again. She revealed that after she told him she was leaving the house, which left him scared, he told her to leave and never come back. Recalling the incident, Leena revealed: 

"I was very insecure because I was his fourth wife. I was like ‘he shouldn’t get a 5th one’. I was in a lot of tension. Once, I told him that I am leaving the house. He got scared a little, but then he asked me to leave. He told me, ‘Don’t ever come back and never talk to me again.' As I was about to get in the taxi, his whole group came and they stopped me. They told me ‘how are you leaving? It is because of you that this 8th wonder of the world has changed.'"

Kishore Kumar and his marriages 

Kishore Kumar got married four times. He was first married to Ruma Guha Thakurta, then he went on to get married to Madhubala. But she fell sick and their marriage ended with her demise in 1969. Kishore Kumar then fell in love with Yogeeta Bali, but the marriage was short-lived, and they parted ways after two years. His last marriage was with Leena Chandavarkar and continued until he died in 1987.
