Kishwer Merchant has lived life on her own terms. From marrying late to falling in love with a younger boy and embracing motherhood at forty, the actress has smashed the concept of the 'clock ticking' in a woman's life. The actress rose to instant fame as 'Nonnie' in the '90s superhit show, Hip Hip Hurray. Recently, Kishwer first time talked about marrying Suyyash, who was eight years younger than her, and how his mother had initially had a problem with it.
Recently, Kishwer Merchant appeared on Debina Bonnerjee's talk show, and shared details of her life and being a mother. During one segment, Kishwer revealed that she is a Muslim and got married to a Hindu boy. However, religion was never a problem for their families, as Suyyash's sister was married to a Muslim boy.
Kishwer added that it was the age that was a problem at Suyyash's place. She shared that she understands it now as her son would one day come and announce that he was planning to get married to an older woman, she would also be shocked. Kishwer was quoted as saying:
"It was slightly difficult for me as I was older than him. I am eight years older than him. Vo thura sa with his mother, vo thura sa tha, obliviously because I am a mother now, I completely understand that you know. Agar mera beta bhi mujhe aake bolta ki you know 8 saal badi ladki hai. Toh I would also be like, 'Dude what'."
Kishwer further shared that now it is not an issue, but when she had done it, she was the first few. Citing an example of Priyanka Chopra, who got married to a younger boy, after she married Suyyas. There were not many women taking this path. Kishwer added that it was Suyyash, who convinced his family, and they had to agree.
For those who don't know, Kishwer welcomed her first child in her forties. It was a natural pregnancy and became a role model for many. Talking about the same in Debina's podcast, Kishwer shared that she was never worried about embracing motherhood and wasn't even considering getting pregnant.

However, Kishwer wasn't able to understand the signs of her pregnancy for the first two months. Kishwer added that her mother was more worried for her. Kishwer and her husband, Suyyash, proudly told their families that they were happy pet parents, and that's when God blessed them with a child.
For those who don't know, in August 2021, Kishwer welcomed her first child. The actress once revealed that she had a C-section delivery. However, there were no complications, but it was simply her choice that she opted for C-section.
