Kobe Bryant, the late basketball champion, had sharp business skills apart from being a master blaster on the court. One of his most successful ventures was in BodyArmor sports drink, where he invested USD 6 million into the startup, which made him earn USD 40 million. Now, his former teammate, Robert Horry, has stated that he had to be a part of the deal and mentioned that Kobe drank Red Bull before matches, which fatigued him out.

Kobe made huge profits because of BodyArmor sports drink, and now, in an interview with Sportsrush, he explained he should have been a part of the USD 40 million share. For the unversed, Robert had shared a stage with Kobe back in the 2000s when they were the core players of the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, Robert alleged that once during the game, he did not see Kobe in his usual self; he looked more gassed and fatigued than usual. Robert claimed:

"I go over to him at halftime and I said, ‘You look tired.’ He said, ‘Yeah I’m tired.’ I said, ‘You drinking Red Bull?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah I drank one before the game.’ ‘You can’t drink that sh** man.'”

Robert then said that Kobe was stunned by this information. Robert had told Kobe about how he had crashed, and the more Red Bull he drank before the game, the greater the effect the crash would have on him. Robert had also told Kobe to have his drink during halftime of the game, but never like before a game. Robert mentioned having a similar experience before the game, so he understood what Kobe was talking about. For the uninformed, Kobe had just put USD 6 million when BodyArmor was a startup. Robert also alleged that he was the one who had introduced Kobe to the brand, as in the early 2000s, both were core NBA champion stars. Kobe had no idea that a modest investment in a beverage drink would give him massive profit.

According to an ElBalad report, Robert claimed he had told Kobe that energy drinks would lead to crashes and advised him to avoid them before games. Robert also shared that this conversation with Kobe may have given him the idea of exploring BodyArmor and creating a healthier alternative drink for all the energy needs. Horry, in a joke, stated that he should have gotten the stock in BodyArmor for the input he had shared.

Kobe Bryant was known for his intense workouts

It is said that back in the late 1990s and also the early 2000s, energy drinks such as Red Bull were pretty new and also in trend. Many athletes had experimented with the same for a caffeine or a sugar boost. Kobe was known for his hardcore intense workout, work ethics, long training time and so it was not something different for him.
