Kristin Cabot, a former HR head at Astronomer, became the center of a viral controversy after she was seen cuddling with her then-boss, Andy Byron at a Coldplay concert earlier this year. However, what made matters worse was the information that the duo were married to other people.
The controversy quickly gained momentum and became meme material online. It also raised questions about the nature of Kristin's marriage to Massachusetts entrepreneur, Andrew Cabot. Now, her husband is finally addressing the situation through a spokesperson.
Andrew Cabot's representative confirmed that the couple was already separated before the concert footage made headlines. According to their statement to PEOPLE, the spokesperson clarified that Andrew and Kristin had already separated several weeks before the July concert. The statement highlighted that their decision to divorce had been in motion well before that night. Clarifying the situation and requesting privacy, their statement read:
"Their decision to divorce was already underway prior to that evening. Now that the divorce filing is public, Andrew hopes this provides respectful closure to speculation and allows his family the privacy they've always valued. No further public comment will be made."
The family has also requested no further public comment on the matter. Andrew, who serves as CEO of Privateer Rum, has two children from a previous marriage but did not share kids with Kristin. On the other hand, Kristin faced professional fallout after the incident. She was even criticised for her actions and behavior in her personal life. However, Kristin has not released any public statement on the matter.
At the time of the concert, Kristin Cabot was working as the Astronomer's chief people officer, while Andy was serving as the company's CEO. The viral moment sparked intense criticism of their professional and personal lives. Consequently, both Kristin and Andy had to eventually exit the company. The company immediately appointed interim CEO Pete DeJoy, who later acknowledged the controversy, noting that the company had received more attention than only a few companies in their industry would get. He credited the team's strength during an unexpected and challenging period. In his words:
"The events of the past few days have received a level of media attention that few companies, let alone startups in our small corner of the data and AI world, ever encounter. The spotlight has been unusual and surreal for our team, and, while I would never have wished for it to happen like this, Astronomer is now a household name."

The controversy began when Kritin and Andy were featured on the concert's so-called "kiss cam." Instead of waving or acknowledging the moment, Kristin quickly turned her back while Byron ducked out of sight. It made the audience curious, and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked, "Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy." The awkward exchange immediately went viral, and netizens found the identities of the duo. Soon, it began debates about workplace boundaries, privacy, and public behavior. However, neither Kristin nor Byron has publicly clarified the nature of their relationship. Still, the incident became one of the most talked-about viral moments of the summer.
