Don 3, starring Ranveer Singh in a lead role, is the most anticipated project directed by Farhan Akhtar. However, ever since the project was announced by Farhan’s production, Excel Entertainment, there has been a buzz around who will be the lead actress for the project. Earlier, there were speculations that new mom, Kiara Advani, would be seen opposite Ranveer, but reports claimed that the actress has opted out of the project to prioritise her personal life. Now, the makers have confirmed that Kriti Sanon will be seen as the female lead, replacing Kiara.

The makers, Farhan’s production, Excel Entertainment, have announced and confirmed Kriti Sanon as the lead actress in Don 3. The news came soon after the Shershaah actress welcomed her first child, a baby girl, with her husband, Sidharth Malhotra. For the unversed, Kiara and Sidharth welcomed their baby girl on July 15, 2025, late at night. According to an Excel Entertainment release, actor and director, Farhan Akhtar has been preparing for his next directorial venture, Don 3, which is expected to go on floors in January 2026. They also revealed that the makers are seeking a top A-list actor to play the antagonist role. The release can be read as:

"The film will feature Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon in leading roles. Casting for the film is underway, with the makers reportedly in talks with a top A-list actor to take on the intense antagonist role."

Speculations around Kiara Advani and Kriti Sanon to play the female lead in Don 3

Earlier this year, in March 2025, according to a report by Pinkvilla, Kiara, who was speculated to play the lead role in Don 3, has reportedly opted out of the film, and has claimed "chosen to prioritise her personal life" over the project. On the other hand, Kriti was often seen outside Excel Entertainment's office. In June 2025, Kriti was spotted in Mumbai, and when paparazzi called her 'Lady Don', the Bareilly Ki Barfi actress blushed. This year, on Ranveer’s birthday, July 6, 2025, Kriti wished the Ladies vs Ricky Bahl actor and added a note, "P.S. Looking forward to working with you soon!" These things just fueled speculation that Kriti might be seen as the female lead in the project. However, Excel Entertainment, the production company, has now confirmed Kriti as part of the cast of Don 3.

After Kriti’s confirmation as one of the casts in Don 3, the makers have still not addressed the buzz around Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra doing a cameo in the film. Reports also suggested that 12th Fail fame, Vikrant Massey and the Dear Comrade actor, Vijay Deverakonda, have been approached for the antagonist role in Don 3, but both actors have declined the role as the villainous character lacked depth. Now, it will be worth watching to see who will play the antagonist role in Farhan Akhtar’s highly anticipated project, Don 3.
