Actress and host, Kubbra Sait, is one of the most versatile actresses. She is also hailed for being brutally honest about her personal life. The actress, in her memoir Open Book: Not Quite A Memoir, had revealed for the first time that she underwent an abortion. In a recent interview with Viral Bhayani, Kubbra discussed the topic and revealed her state of mind during that time.
The actress recently spoke about her abortion and revealed that she was ‘conflicted’ about it initially, but later realised that she made the right decision. Speaking about the same, Kubbra said:
“It’s been many years since that happened, and I’ve had plenty of time to think about it and heal from it. But when a moment like that comes in your life, you find yourself conflicted because along with you are your faith, your responsibilities, and the world around you. You know what your duties are, you’re aware of how society sees you, and you feel torn between what’s right and what’s wrong. At that time, you don’t really know whether the decision you’re making is correct or not. But today, I can say with full confidence that the decision I made then was the right one for me.”
During that time, Kubbra wasn’t sure whether she made the right decision, but she never regretted it. The experience took her years to process her thoughts. She was shooting for her projects, and after the abortion, her health took a toll. She often fell unwell and suffered heavy bleeding, but she never shared what she was going through.
In the book’s chapter titled, I Wasn’t Ready To Be A Mother, Kubbra shared details about getting an abortion after a one-night stand with a friend. The actress revealed that she had gone on a holiday to the Andamans in 2013, and after a few drinks, had got intimate with a friend. However, when her pregnancy result had come positive, she had no other option but to get it terminated as she wasn’t ready for it
Kubbra Sait won us over with her honest and raw portrait of ‘Kuchoo’ in the popular Netflix series, Sacred Games. Her role as a transgender woman was loved by the audience, and she represented Sacred Games at the Emmy Awards in 2011. Apart from this, Kubbra had also stepped into Bollywood films and made a mark with movies like Sultan, Ready, and City Of Life.
