Kunal Kohli is one of the many filmmakers, who never got the credit they deserved for their movies. The director marked his return to Bollywood after a gap of a few years in 2025 with the film, Bobby Aur Rishi Ki Love Story. Although the film didn't perform to the high standards we expect from Kunal Kohli, it did mark the Bollywood debut of Kaveri Kapur, daughter of Shekhar Kapoor and Suchitra Krishnamoorthi. Despite not being so active, Kunal Kohli still makes his way into the news headlines time and again for different reasons.
For instance, recently, at the event, Indian Now and How, Kunal Kohli shared his thoughts on films and went back in time to share some interesting anecdotes about his career. During the event, Kunal shared that the late legendary filmmaker, Yash Chopra wasn't impressed with Hum Tum's script initially. The director told Kunal that Mujhse Dosti Karoge! is Mughal-E-Azam in front of Hum Tum. Yash Chopra just gave Rs. 7.5 crore to Kunal Kohli.
Not only this, but Yash Chopra didn't want to put his name in Hum Tum because he thought it would be a disaster, but the final cut changed his decision. Yash Chopra wasn't the only person who didn't believe in Hum Tum's script, Rishi Kapoor also denied doing a cameo in the film. However, he agreed to the cameo later on, and he played the role of Saif Ali Khan's father in Hum Tum. Well, Hum Tum broke the box office, as it earned Rs. 42 crore after being made in a budget of Rs. 7.5 crore and cemented itself as one of Bollywood's most-loved romantic films.
Kunal Kohli is a celebrated filmmaker who has directed films like Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Hum Tum, Fanaa, Break Ke Baad, Next Enti?, Lahore Confidential, and many more. The director is married to a lady named Ravina Kohli, who is also a filmmaker by profession.
As per multiple reports, Ravina has directed some episodes of Karan Johar's celebrity talk show, Koffee With Karan. Ravina Kohli directed the first three seasons of the talk show. Kunal and Ravina are parents to a lovely daughter named Radha Kohli. The family of three prefers to live a quiet life far from the reach of anyone.

Apart from their filmy career, Kunal Kohli and his wife, Ravina Kohli, have been in the news headlines for a couple more reasons. The couple remained in the headlines for months when Ravina filed a defamation suit of Rs. 10 crores against their neighbour, Preeti Motwani, back in March 2022. For the uninitiated, Kunal and Ravina reside in the D-wing of Cozy Home Society, located at Pali Hill. Ravina Kohli sent a legal notice to their neighbour, Preeti Motwani, for falsely accusing her of misappropriating funds.
What's interesting is that the entire controversy also features legendary actress, Meena Kumari's stepson, Tajdar Amrohi. As per a report in ETimes, Preeti Motwani got into the act when Cozy Home paid a sum of Rs. 1 crore to Tajdar over his rights on the property. It was an out-of-court settlement, and the nature of payment did not go well with Motwani, and she questioned the way Ravina handled the finances.
Although Ravina didn't address the accusations from Motwani in public, but she admitted that she had filed a defamation notice against her. The case created a stir in the film industry for some time, but as time passed, it was forgotten and overlapped by other juicy news headlines of the entertainment industry.
