Bigg Boss 19 contestant and veteran actress, Kunickaa Sadanand, has hogged the limelight for her bossy attitude and heated arguments with the housemates. Recently, an old video of her has resurfaced online, raising eyebrows for a controversial remark. Kunickaa’s former boyfriend, Kumar Sanu’s son, Jaan Kumar Sanu, slammed the actress for the comment. For the unversed, Kumar Sanu and Kunickaa had an affair in the '90s, when the legendary singer was already a married man. In a recent interview, Kunickaa’s son, Ayaan Lall, tried to clarify the statement made by his mother.
In a recent interview with Zoom, Kunickaa Sadanand’s son, Ayaan Lall, reacted to the old video featuring Kunickaa, where she said that there has been no rape in Bollywood. He tried to clarify what his mother had said in the podcast. Ayaan expressed that a woman must rethink, when she gets a late-night audition call. In his words:
"She was saying that if someone calls you for an audition at 10:30 at night, you have to think about what kind of audition it really is. The truth of this industry is that even today, women are used as models in movies."
He went on to explain that his mother has male friends in the industry, who were wrongly framed. Ayaan said that although women are pressured to get a job, it is always in a woman's hands to accept the offer or not. He mentioned that the word rape is a very serious issue, which shouldn’t be used lightly. In his words:
"What she was trying to say was that she has some male friends in this industry who have been falsely accused of things. She was trying to explain that sometimes, to get work, women have to compromise, which is the sad reality of this industry. But this compromise is a choice. And as for using the word 'rape,' you cannot use it lightly, it is a very, very serious matter."
Further in the interview, Ayaan shared a disturbing incident that his mom had to go through in past. He shared that once a producer called his mom to his vanity under the pretext of discussing a project. Since Kunickaa needed money, she went, but soon after, the producer began to behave inappropriately. The actress screamed in front of the entire crew and addressed the issue. Ayaan then explained that not only men, but also women had choices to make. In his words:
"She had a choice to make that day. She screamed in front of the entire crew, and that’s when she realised 'I have to hold myself together. A woman is capable of saving herself. That is what my mother was trying to explain. It’s not only men who have choices. Women have choices too, and they need to use them. Only then will men and women be on the same level."
Earlier, in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Kunickaa Sadanand made a very controversial statement about women in Bollywood. She said, "Humari industry main na, main aisa maanti hoon, ki rape nahi hota hai. It is the women who gave hints to filmmakers." To explain her point, Kunickaa acted out how a simple line to ask for work can be said in two different ways, one in a professional manner and another in a seductive way. Kunickaa gave her example and said that she was always straightforward and made it clear that she was not ready to compromise under the pretext of becoming a heroine.
