OTT giant, Netflix, has revealed its next upcoming epic series named, Kurukshetra. It has been inspired by the epic tale of the Mahabharata, and the animated series presents the perspectives of 18 key warriors. Each of them has their own share of issues, personal motives and the cost of war is such that fights among brothers have been shown. For the unversed, Netflix, for the first time, is all set to launch its first-ever animated mythology series called Kurukshetra.
Kurukshetra has been conceptualised and produced by Anu Sikka and presented by Tipping Point Productions. The makers of the series released its first motion poster, as the series is set to premiere in October 2025. Netflix on Instagram as well as X dropped the first motion poster of Kurukshetra which has been produced by Alok Jain, Anu Sikka, and Ajit Andhare. The makers captioned the motion poster as:
"Shankhnaad ke sath arambh hoga dharm aur adharm ka mahayudh. Watch Kurukshetra, out 10 October, only on Netflix."
The series has been written and directed by Ujaan Ganguly. Gulzar, who has won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and is also a poet, has been the lyricist of the anticipated series. For the unversed, from October 10, 2025, the series will come on Netflix. Speaking of the mahayudh, the makers in their caption also wrote, "Shankhnaad ke sath arambh hoga dharm aur adharm ka mahayudh."
According to a press note by Netflix, the biggest learnings of the Dharmayudh (righteous war) will be shown in two parts, each consisting of nine episodes. It will be the biggest Indian story ever told, and netizens are excited. One user wrote, "Finally, our epics deserve the love they should. Thanks @netflix_in, I'm excited for this one. Finally, the wait is over. Itna mehnat safal hua." A user shared, "Hope this series doesnt glorify Kauravas and shows only the Mahabharata by Ved Vyas."
Users are also concerned and do not want the epic to be distorted. A user wrote, "On one side, people like Ami Ganatra are controlling the damage, debunking myths, revealing the truth about whitewashed characters, and giving proper recognition to the noble characters like Yudhishthir, Arjun, Draupadi, and Vidur. On the other hand, you have TV series and movies endowed with lots of fake stories. Don't want another distortion of our Epic."

Fans have lauded Kuruskshetra makers for bringing new, innovative ideas to the people of India. They are happy to see that the biggest battle is being shown in an animated series. As seen in the motion poster of Kurukshetra, varied characters from the Mahabharat are seen in animated forms. The creator of the show, Anu Sikka, in a press event speaking of the series shared:
