'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2' Review: Smriti Irani Returns As 'Tulsi' With Grace And Nostalgia

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi has always remained in the hearts of every Indian. The family drama first aired in 2000, and with more than 1,800 episodes, it left the audience hooked to their screens. The sitcom was built on the 'Virani' family, and their ideal bahu 'Tulsi', played by Smriti Irani. Now, after 25 years, the show is back on the screens and JioHotstar. The first episode premiered on July 29, 2025, and people couldn't help but travel back in time.

For the unversed, unlike season one, season two will have limited episodes, and it's a reprise, not a reboot, which means it will run around the original story, showing a leap of 25 years, but it's not beginning from scratch. Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyaya have reprised their roles as 'Tulsi' and 'Mihir', and the first episode has already hit the right nostalgic chord with the audience. So, let's have a look at what happened on episode 1 of season 2 of Kyunki.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Khabhi Bahu Thi returns after 25 years: A review of the iconic serial

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 is a continuation of where the first season left off. The first episode features the iconic props from the show, which instantly worked as a time-machine capsule and took us back to 2000, when the iconic tulsi plant, Ganesh idol, and the 'Virani' household were a part of our daily visuals. We were introduced to 'Tulsi', i.e., Smriti Irani, who was seen watering the Tulsi plant.

'Tulsi' also recalled her conversation with 'Baa', which was shown through old footage from season 1. Apart from that, we could also witness the return of 'Daksha Chachi' and 'Savita'. Several moments remained the same as the first season, which hit the right chords, such as the Jai Shri Krishna greetings, similar background, a soulful theme and more.

'Mihir', Amar Upadhyaya, was seen gifting 'Tulsi' a car on their anniversary. We were also introduced to the new generation. In a word, the return of Kyunki brought a blend of the past and the modern-day, which promised more dramatic unfolding for the upcoming episodes.
