Pratibha Ranta is among those new faces in Bollywood who gained quite some attention with her on-screen performances one after the other. She was seen in the role of the fiery 'Jaya' in Kiran Rao’s film, Laapataa Ladies. Herein, the diva showed her acting prowess with her on-screen character of a bride set in the early 2000s, who could find a purpose in her life to study further. Following this, she portrayed the role of 'Waheeda' (Sanjeeda Shaikh)’s daughter, 'Shama', in the recently released web series, Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.

Pratibha Ranta reveals her journey to Bollywood

The actress, Pratibha Ranta at just the mere age of 24 years indeed made a name for herself within a short duration in the industry. Now, she sat for a candid conversation with Zoom and opened up about her journey from a completely non-filmy background to making her place in one after the other blockbuster hit projects. She mentioned that her journey began from her hometown in Shimla.

Pratibha reveals she was a bit nervous while telling about her interest in acting

However, recalling the same, Pratibha revealed that when she had informed her family about her interest in acting, they had asked her, "Beta, acting? What's that!" She added that since most people in her family are teachers, they knew nothing about the acting line. Thus, at times, Pratibha felt a bit awkward as she was the odd one out of her age group who aspired to become an engineer, a doctor, or any other professional. She added about being nervous while talking about her wish to join the acting business at that time.

Pratibha manged to convince her parents to send her to Mumbai by getting admission in a college

She mentioned, "Aesa lgta that ki log mujhpe hasenge. Kya baat kar rhi hai acting karni hai." And it was when she started searching for options on how to reach Mumbai. According to her, the best option for her to get out of Shimla and reach Mumbai was by taking admission to a college over there. Thus, after completing her schooling at the Convent of Jesus and Mary in Shimla, Pratibha then somehow managed to convince her parents to send her to Mumbai.

She could do so by getting admission to Mumbai University to pursue further higher studies. However, her interest in the film business kept attracting her to the auditions, and she did only six months of college before getting her first offer. Then, she started giving one after the other auditions, and finally, somehow, she managed to get a role in Qurbaan Hua. And then, while working on the next web series, she got the offer to give an audition for Laapataa Ladies.

Pratibha was initially a bit apprehensive about acting in Laapataa Ladies

Although she was a bit apprehensive initially, however, she immediately grabbed the opportunity coming in her way. Later, while working on the film's narrative, Pratibha revealed how she understood that Jaya's story matches her journey perfectly, and she got completely soaked in it. At the end of the clip, Pratibha mentioned that her entire journey was indeed magical.

Pratibha at first participated in a beauty pageant and won the title of Miss Mumbai in 2018. Undoubtedly, this opened many doors for her and she started getting recognised by eminent filmmakers. Then, she made her acting debut with the television show, Qurbaan Hua, wherein she was seen in the role of 'Chahat'. Following this, she also appeared in a web show, Aadha Ishq. Her performance in the show helped her gain the attention of the makers of Laapataa Ladies, and she was given the role of 'Jaya' in the movie. She had just finished shooting Laapataa Ladies when she got a call for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi. The rest became history as the actress gradually etched a special place in millions of hearts.
