Lakshmi Manchu Blasts Reporter Over Questioning Dressing Choice At 47, 'Would You Ask Mahesh Babu'

Famous South Indian actress and host, Lakshmi Manchu is extremely busy while juggling her personal and professional life. She is currently promoting her upcoming film, Daksha: A Deadly Conspiracy. It is going to be released on September 19, 2025. However, during the promotions, she was left visibly hurt after a reporter took a dig at her dressing sense and age-shamed her. 

Lakshmi Manchu lashed out at the reporter for age-shaming her

Recently, in an interview with Great Andhra, the actor blasted the reporter who kept asking her about her choices of dressing at the age of 47. She was left extremely infuriated, and she lashed out at him and even pointed out that he would have asked the same of Mahesh Babu. 

During the interview, the reporter pointed out that Lakshmi's dressing has changed since she moved to Mumbai. However, she tried to let it go and calmly replied that she was living in America before moving back to Hyderabad and then to Mumbai. She added that she worked hard to look the way she does now. To top it up, she finds confidence in dressing the way she wants to.  

However, the reporter kept on pestering her, and commented that she was close to 50 and the mother of a girl child, people would comment on her sense of dressing. It was enough for Lakshmi to lose her cool. Despite it, she didn't raise her voice, and simple asked the man that he would have asked the same to Mahesh Babu, who is 50 years of age. She said:

"Would you ask a man the same question? How dare you! How dare you ask me that question? Would you say, Mahesh Babu, you are 50 now, why are you going shirtless? Then how do you ask a woman the same thing? People learn from what you have asked me here today. As a journalist, be more responsible in the position you take."

The reporter accepted that he wouldn't have asked the same question to a man. He revealed that he asked her because a lot of people were commenting about the same on her social media. Lakshmi pointed that an actress who was married to a superstar once, her life changed 360 after her divorce. A big film was taken away from her due her divorce with the superstar. Lakshmi said:

"I know a superstar’s wife who is still in the industry. Even the films she was once offered have been taken away after her divorce because they feel her ex-husband might feel bad. She is waiting to do good work. A man will never face something like that; his life will never change. But a woman takes on so much responsibility. No one gives us freedom; we have to take it on our own."

When Lakshmi Manchu slapped a boy and revealed the reason

Last year, Lakshmi made headlines when she slappped a man, while giving a byte. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Lakshmi talked about the viral video of hitting a man. She confessed that she had slapped him and he deserved it. She added that he walked through the camera while she was on stage, and this is why he deserved the slap. Lakshmi was quoted as saying:

"That person very well knew that I was on a red carpet. It was not some random person taking a video. But he was so nonchalant, and just walked through the camera. I am an actor, you don’t come in front of my camera. Never do that with any artiste. He rightly got what he deserved. These are basic manners that people don’t have. I slapped him and he deserved it. I didn’t go out of my way. He came into my world."
