Robert Reiner is an American film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter. The 78-year-old was reportedly living with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, when a call left the internet shocked. According to reports, a report was made that two dead bodies have been found at his LA home. Here's what we know so far.

Is Robert Reiner dead?

According to recent reports, two people were found dead on the afternoon of December 14, 2025, (ET) inside a Brentwood home owned by director and actor, Rob Reiner, and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. As per the reports by the local authorities and media reports, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) responded to the property on Chadbourne Avenue around 3:30 p.m. and found the bodies of a man and a woman, approximately 78 and 68 years old, respectively, inside the residence.

While there has been no confirmation about the identity of the deceased, the ages match those of the director and his wife, leaving the internet shocked. According to a report by NBC Los Angeles, neighbours said Reiner and his wife live in the home, and property records indicate they own it.

What happened at Rob Reiner's LA home?

According to reports by NBC Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division has been assigned to investigate the reported deaths. The home is tied to Robert Reiner and his family. However, since there has been no official confirmation about the deceased or the circumstances surrounding their deaths, nothing can be confirmed so far. 

According to the report, a large police fleet was present at Robert Reiner's LA home on the evening of Sunday, December 14, 2025 (ET). Within a few minutes, Los Angeles Police Department officers were dispatched to the home for a report of an "ambulance death investigation," which is LAPD terminology when officers are called by firefighters to the discovery of a death.

TMZ also reported that Los Angeles Fire Department personnel received a call at approximately 3:38 p.m. and responded to the 200 block of Chadbourne Avenue for medical aid. While the news outlet also confirmed that the house did belong to the Spinal Tap director, Rob Reiner, there has been no known update on the identity of the deceased so far.

Who is Rob Reiner?

Rob Reiner is an American film director, producer, screenwriter, actor, and liberal activist. The filmmaker was born into a Jewish family in the Bronx, New York, on March 6, 1947. According to reports, Rob is the son of  Estelle and Carl Reiner. As a child, Reiner lived at 48 Bonnie Meadow Road in New Rochelle, New York. He studied at the UCLA Film School. He started his career in the early 1960s as an apprentice at the Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope, Pennsylvania. 

As an actor, Rob Reiner is known for his role as 'Mike (Meathead) Stivic' on the CBS sitcom, All in the Family, and won two Primetime Emmy Awards for the role. He is also well known for his roles in Sleepless in Seattle, Primary Colors, and Everyone's Hero. The actor made his directorial debut with This is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, and When Harry Met Sally...
