Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, the superhero film starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, has already become the talk of the town. Directed by Dominic Arun, the dark fantasy film is produced by actor, Dulquer Salmaan under the banner of Wayfarer Films. Kalyani Priyadarshan starrer, made on a budget of 30 crores, grossed Rs. 303.96 crore worldwide, marking a successful theatrical run. Now that the film has paved its way to the OTT platform, JioHotstar, let’s find out what happens at the end of the dark fantasy.

Plotline of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra follows 'Chandra' (played by Kalyani Priyadarshan), a woman from Kerala who moves to Bengaluru for a fresh start. But soon, she becomes entangled in mysterious events and begins to feel changes within and around her. Eventually, 'Chandra' discovers that she’s connected to 'Kalliyankattu Neeli', a powerful spirit from Kerala’s folklore. While 'Chandra' struggles to understand and accept her supernatural identity, her journey becomes tougher when she encounters 'Nachiyappa' (played by Sandy Master).

What happens at the end of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra?

In the climax, 'Chandra' defeats 'Nachiyappa', the ruthless mastermind of an organ trafficking gang, bringing justice to the victims. However, even after her victory, 'Chandra' realises that she can’t live a normal life. In an emotional moment, she bids adieu to 'Sunny' (played by Naslen), accepting that her supernatural powers set her apart from the others. 'Chandra' reveals that her strength makes her both a protector and an outsider. However, the closing statement of 'Chandra', "If an anomaly were to happen, I will return," hinted at that Lokah is expanding.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra's mid-credit and post-credit opens door to a larger Lokah universe

The mid and post-credit scenes of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra expand the Lokah universe. In the mid-credits, Dulquer Salmaan appears as 'Odiyan', a mysterious, ninja-like character, who will reportedly play a key role in the next part. The post-credit scene then introduces Tovino Thomas as 'Chathan', a strange goblin-like figure, who is being interrogated about a failed archaeological dig. During the scene, 'Chathan's' statement, "It could be me... or one of my 389 siblings. We all look alike," suggests that multiple versions of him exist. This statement also hinted at a connection between the Lokah and the ARM world, a previous film of Tovino. However, Tovino himself confirmed that there is no connection between ARM and Lokah, and that both belong to different universes.

What to expect in the next part of Lokah?

The makers of Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra have officially announced the next part with a promotional video featuring both Tovino and Dulquer. In the clip, Tovino appears as 'Michael', a goblin-like creature called 'Chathan', and is having a conversation with 'Charlie', a mysterious ninja-like figure. Both the characters are drawn from Kerala’s folklore. 'Michael' holds a book titled They Live Among Us and explains that the first chapter was about 'Neeli' (played by Kalyani Priyadarshan), while the second chapter focuses on him, hinting that the sequel will explore the world of 'Chathans'.

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, the dark fantasy superhero film directed and written by Dominic Arun, is a visually stunning mix of mythology, emotion, and modern heroism whose primary focus is 'Chandra', a female protagonist.
