'Lokah Chapter 1' OTT Release, Where And When To Stream Kalyani Priyadarshan's Superhero Film

Among many big-budget multi-starrer movies running in theatres, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, a mid-budget, women-centric superhero film, has taken over the cinemas. Produced by Mollywood superstar, Dulquer Salmaan and starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, this Malayalam-language film is being praised as one of the best superhero films in India. Amid these praises, as more and more people are curious to watch the film, here's where to stream Lokah Chapter 1. 

Lokah Chapter 1 OTT release date and platform revealed 

Amid a successful theatrical run in Kerala and nearby regions with an understanding of Malayalam, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra was released in Hindi on September 4, 2025. As the superhero film has taken over India, a OneIndia report suggests that the digital version of Lokah Chapter 1 in various Indian languages will likely be released around the last week of September. Rumours are circulating that September 26, 2025, might be the date of Lokah Chapter 1's OTT release. 

As for the OTT platform, nothing has been confirmed yet. However, most reports speculate that the streaming giant, Netflix, might buy the digital rights to Lokah Chapter 1. These speculations arise from the fact that, though Netflix has a limited range of Malayalam films, most of Dulquer Salmaan's previous projects have been released on this OTT platform. It is also noteworthy that the final date of OTT release depends on the box office numbers. Most films are made available on digital spaces after the theatrical run is over. However, as Lokah Chapter 1 is performing well in the theatres and the Hindi version was released in September itself, the speculated date of a September digital release might be pushed back. 

Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra box office collection

According to reports, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra was produced with a budget of Rs. 40 crores. Directed by Dominic Arun and produced by Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Films, the project is being called India's first female superhero movie by the makers. The team has also shared on September 4, 2024, that the Malayalam movie has collected Rs. 101 crores globally. This feat makes it the third film from the regional industry to enter the 'Hundred Crores Club'. Released on August 28, 2025, a Sacnilk report indicates that Lokah Chapter 1 has garnered nearly Rs. 60 crores in India within nine days of its theatrical run.

With Lokah Chapter 1 gaining immense popularity, the makers are now expanding into the Wayfarer Cinematic Universe. Blending Malayalam folk tales with modern-day storytelling, the story of the first instalment revolves around Kalyani Priyadarshan's character, 'Chandra'. Called from Sweden to Bangalore, she uncovers mystical powers as a 'Yakshi'. Amid trying to come to terms with her unexplainable powers, 'Chandra' must also uncover some dark underworld secrets involving corruption and organ trafficking. Apart from Kalyani, the film also stars Naslen and Arun Kurian, with cameos by Tovino Thomas, Dulquer Salmaan, among many others. Mollywood's veteran superstar, Mammootty, also lends his voice to the mysterious character of 'Moothon'.
