A 36-year-old woman named Seema Agarwal from Dehradun has been arrested by the special team of Murlipura police station on the charges of theft, blackmailing and false charges. After her arrest was made public, DCP Kumar talked about the case and revealed that she primarily targeted divorced men and wealthy widows. The officer further added that Seema used to target a specific community and gather information about their wealth from matrimonial platforms.
Jaipur police arrested Seema Agarwal after she allegedly frauded a Jhotwara-based jeweller. The jeweller filed a police complaint against his wife, Seema after she disappeared with Rs. 6.5 lakhs in cash and jewellery worth Rs. 30 lakhs. As per the report, the jeweller is a widower, and he got married to Seema in February. After just four months, she ran away in July with valuables worth lakhs. The case is doing rounds all over social media after a picture of Seema sitting while being surrounded by police officers was released on social media.
According to a report in The Times Of India, Murlipura police were tracking down Seema Agarwal for some time. Eventually, they arrested her when she was at home in Dehradun. During the investigation, it was revealed that Seema had been committing such crimes for almost a decade. The first major case dates back to 2013 when she got married to a businessman's son in Uttar Pradesh's Agra.
As per the report, Seema allegedly received a sum of Rs. 75 lakhs from the family after she filed a domestic violence complaint against her then-husband months after their wedding. After some years, in 2017, Seema Agarwal allegedly tied the knot with a Gurugram-based software engineer. Once again, she allegedly accused her then-husband of unnatural sex. Not only this, Seema reportedly accused the engineer's cousin of rape. According to a report, Seema allegedly extorted a sum of Rs. 10 lakh from the engineer and his family.
In her third marriage with the Jhotwara jeweller, she reportedly accused him also of unnatural sex and filed a rape case against other members of the family. Seema was reportedly threatening the family and was extracting huge amounts of money from the family, but this time, she was caught by the police, putting an end to her case that is stretched over a decade. According to several reports, Seema Agarwal collected a total sum of Rs. 1.25 crore from all the settlements she had made before being arrested by the Jaipur police. The police are currently investigating the case and will soon file a chargesheet in the matter.
