"I actually went saat samundar paar to get her. She was staying with her family in the US then and I went there and kept my proposal in front of her family. Her family took some time to decide but the answer was ‘yes’ and so we got engaged on my birthday."
Ajay and Jyoti's weddings that took place in January 2013, were star-studded. Yes, 'weddings' because they got hitched twice. They had a Hindu wedding first, which was followed by a white wedding as Jyoti is half Catholic.
Talking about his two weddings, Ajay had said in an interview:
“Our wedding was a long, but exciting five-day affair with mehendi, sagai and sangeet. Jyoti is half-Catholic and always wanted a white wedding. I was more than happy to fulfil her dream.”
The wedding celebrations were spread over a period of 5 days and included mehendi, sangeet, engagement, and two weddings.
For one of the events, the couple donned the colour yellow. Jyoti wore a heavy yellow dress with Swarovski work on it, along with diamond jewellery and Ajay opted for a heavy bandhgala in the same combination.
For the Hindu wedding, Jyoti embraced red. She wore a heavy red lehenga with matching jewellery. Ajay looked dapper in a peach and red printed sherwani. His attire completely complemented his bride's attire. The wedding was attended by many celebrities like Sargun Mehta, Ravi Dubey, Rajan Shahi and Rohit Shetty.
Ajay considers Jyoti as his lucky charm on whose arrival, everything fell into its place.
In an interview Ajay shared:
"From the time Jyoti has come into my life, everything unplanned has also worked well for me. With her, she brought in a lot of positivity and it's like she completes me. So, I would like to thank her for coming into my life and giving it a meaning."
In April 2015, the couple welcomed their adorable daughter into this world.
An ecstatic father said:
"She was born in Los Angeles as Jyoti's family lives there. We wanted her name to be a combination of our names, and so, we named her Jiyana, which means the pearl of our heart. I was with my wife throughout the delivery. I was the first one to hold my daughter. She is more beautiful than I had ever imagined. She looks like a little angel, who has entered our lives and changed our world. The feeling is surreal."
