Veteran singer, songwriter and actor, Lucky Ali is a man full of surprises. He once dominated Bollywood with his soulful songs and popularised the idea of music albums and pop culture in Indian music. The 66-year-old singer has earned immense praise for his iconic songs, such as O Sanam, Na Tum Jano Na Hum, and Aa Bhi Ja Aa Bhi Ja. He often grabs the limelight with his musical creations and projects, but this time, he is making headlines for his surprising hint at getting married again.
Lucky Ali recently graced the stage at the 18th edition of the Kathakar International Storyteller Festival in Delhi’s Sunder Nursery. The festival saw the legendary singer sharing existential musings to behind-the-scenes stories of his iconic songs. He even treated fans with impromptu performances of O Sanam, Ek Pal Ka Jeena, and Aa Bhi Jaa. However, as the interaction deepened, Lucky surprised everyone with a lighthearted yet intriguing statement. When asked about his next big dream, he casually remarked:
“Dream hai ki main shaadi karunga phir se!”
The 66-year-old singer’s hint at a potential marriage sparked curiosity among his fans, raising speculation about whether he was truly considering a fourth marriage or simply teasing his audience. For the unversed, Lucky has already married three times. He first tied the knot with an Australian named Meaghan Jane McCleary in 1996, with whom he shares two children, Ta’awwuz and Tasmiyah. He later married Inaya (Anahita) from Persia in 2000, and they have two children, Sara and Raiyan. His third marriage was with British model and former beauty queen, Kate Elizabeth Hallam in 2010, but they parted ways in 2017.
Lucky Ali recalls the time Hrithik Roshan refused to sing a particular line in his film, Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, co-starring Ameesha Patel. The singer revisited the recording session of Ek Pal Ka Jeena from the film, laughing at his amusing exchange with music director, Rajesh Roshan and film director, Rakesh Roshan, leaving the audiences in splits. He recalled:
“Raju bhai (Rajesh Roshan) was my senior. While recording it, there were these lyrics ‘honthon pe pyaas hai, milne ki aas hai’ I told Hrithik ‘You are going to sing ‘aas hai’ on screen? People would laugh’ Then Hrithik went to his father and said ‘Papa I don’t want to sing ‘aas’ on screen! Rakesh said to me ‘arre kya bol aur sikha raha hai isko?’”
Remixes and auto-tuned numbers largely dominate today’s music scene in India, and many veteran singers have expressed their distaste towards the same. During his recent interaction at the storytelling festival, Lucky Ali revealed that he no longer listens to music much. He remarked:

“I am so sorry, you are not going to believe this, but I don’t really listen to music. It’s internal. Sometimes I listen to artists, though.”
On his work front, Lucky Ali is gearing up for an exciting collaboration with Faisal Kapadia, as gathered from his discussion with fans at the storytelling festival. Coming to his personal life, it is just a matter of waiting to see whether the singer was serious about his dream of getting married for the fourth time.
