'Maargan' OTT Review: Vijay Antony Delivers A Gritty Crime Thriller With Twists And Turns

After a month at the box office, the much-talked-about Tamil crime thriller, Maargan has finally made its digital debut. The movie was directed by first-time filmmaker, Leo John Paul and was released in theatres on June 27, 2025. Now it is all ready to entertain the audience once again with its OTT release.

Maargan OTT release: Where to watch?

Maargan is now officially available for streaming on major OTT platforms. In India, the film began streaming on Amazon Prime Video from July 25, 2025. For an international audience, it is available on Tentkotta, a global OTT platform that is known for its Tamil content. Tentkotta confirmed the release on their social media handles with the caption: "When shadows speak, the devil listens… #Maargan – The Black Devil is ready to rise and reign!" 

Maargan is a dark and twisted crime investigation story

Maargan stars Vijay Antony as ADGP, 'Dhruv Guvarak', who is a seasoned police officer based in Mumbai. He is tasked with solving a series of mysterious murder cases involving deaths of young women. As he digs deeper into the case, he discovers that all the victims have one strange thing in common: their bodies turn black after death. The cause for this is a mysterious drug injected into them.

This 'blackening muder case' is the film's central plot, with the unknown substance being referred to as the 'Black Devil.' As the officer follows the trail of murders, the investigation becomes more and more complex, drawing him deeper into a world of shadows, secrets, and a killer who seems to be always one step ahead.

Vijay Antony's performance in Maargan is intense and controlled

Vijay Antony is an actor appreciated for his calm and impactful screen presence. Same is the case in Maargan, as well, where he delivers a strong performance in the role of lead investigator. As reported by critics, his portrayal of a police officer who is surrounded by the dark nature of the crimes he is investigating feels real and layered. Vijay's phenomenal acting makes the audience root for his character as the mystery slowly unfolds.
