Legendary actress, Madhubala's life was short-lived but her footprint is still alive in the hearts of many of her fan following. She is still hailed as one of the iconic women in the history of Indian cinema. However, it was her relationship with the veteran actor, Dilip Kumar that is still fresh in the minds of her fans. While Madhubala and Dilip Kumar had not tied the knot, they were always in love with each other.
For the unversed, Madhubala had married the legendary singer, Kishore Kumar. However, destiny had other plans for the actress as she was diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect (hole in the heart). At the young age of 36, Madhubala had taken her last breath.

Recently, in an interview with The Times of India, Madhubala's sister, Madhur Bhushan talked about the actress' relationship with Dilip Kumar. She shared that their father didn't had problem with Dilip Kumar. However, after the court case had happened, Madhubala had Dilip Kumar to apologise to her father. Madhur shared:
"He didn’t have a problem with Dilip Kumar. Had the court case not happened, Madhubala would have probably got married to Dilip Kumar. She had urged Dilip saab to apologise to our father. She had tried to convince him to let bygones be bygones, just say one sorry for the sake of their relationship. Dilip saab refused. Why would the girl who had loved him for 9 long years, why would she give up on that relationship for a deadly father? Why would anyone leave a good man like Dilip saab? He was the most wonderful human being, it’s just that he wasn’t able to say sorry to our father."
In the same interview, Madhur revealed that her sister, Madhubala didn't wanted the world to think that she had left her father for the love. She was a good daughter, and that's the reason she had given up on her life with Dilip Kumar. She said:
"Of course. She would cry and tell Dilip saab, ‘Dekho humari zindagi barbaad ho jayegi’ and Dilip saab would ask her, ‘Tum itni zidd kyun kar rahi ho?’. Apa would try to explain to him that Ataullah Khan was his would-be father-in-law, she was the would-be wife. She tried to say that Ataullah Khan was the one who made her Madhubala and after marriage, how could she break relations with that man. She couldn’t marry Dilip saab and watch the press speculate that Dilip saab took her away from a bad father. Marrying him under such circumstances would have meant that the daughter would’ve shown the father in a bad light. She was a good daughter and she could never do that to her father."
