Madhuri Dixit married Dr Sriram Nene in 1999. The actress took a break from the film industry and relocated to the US, where she lived for over a decade. Recently, she joined her husband, Dr Sriram Nene, and their kids on his podcast. Her in-laws also accompanied them as they discussed parenthood, a privileged lifestyle and the shift to the USA.
Madhuri and her family openly discussed parenthood and immigrant experiences during the podcast. Madhuri Dixit's son, Ryan, candidly acknowledged the privileges that come with being born into a celebrity family. During the podcast, he described the privileges as an 'understatement'. For the unversed, the couple share two sons, Arin, who was born in 2003 and their 2005 born, Ryan.
They shared about living on three continents and how they had to adapt to the challenges life threw at them. Sriram addressed how both his sons have had 'some luxuries' in comparison to his and his parents' generation. Ryan quipped back at this and stated that some were understatements. Sriram responded to his son and stated:
"That is okay; you should never be afraid of accepting who you are. You should not be entitled and say that it’s just for you; it’s for everyone, and you should be giving back to humanity. You can’t make any excuses because there is no choice you have in the matter of where you are born."
The family discussed a spectrum of topics, among which one was the difference between living abroad and in India. Sriram acknowledged how the country had evolved over the years and asked his parents if they thought the US was better than India. It was his mother who answered the question and stated that while she liked being here, she also missed her home. They compared the contrast between the two nations and also talked about the progress India had made over the years. For the unversed, Dr Sriram's parents moved abroad in the 1970s. The doctor also shared his perspective on India's progress and stated:
"Opportunity is there, hope is there. Before, we had to outsource most of our stuff from the outside, but now people are building in India and for India. I was first a UK citizen, and I travelled to the USA by boat and became a citizen there. You guys (Arin and Ryan) had to deal with reverse migration when you came back to India."
In the previous episode of the podcast, Ryan addressed his privileges, to which his dad replied that they were given an upbringing that was as down-to-earth and normal as possible, given their circumstances. Sriram shared that in spite of the family background, the kids are grounded and nice people. They have never raised them with a spoon in their mouth. Ryan shared his father's sentiments and stated:

"We grew up in a very different environment to a lot of people that I’ve met. Definitely, we’ve had a much easier time than the average person. Whether or not we’re grounded people, I would never say it myself. I would just hope that people perceive me that way, or rather, I end up behaving that way."
