Bollywood actress, Madhuri Dixit's beloved mother, Snehlata Dixit passed away on the morning of March 12, 2023. She was going to be 91 years old in June 2023. However, destiny had other plans, and Snehlata left for the heavenly abode. While the cause of her death is still awaited, Madhuri Dixit and her husband, Shriram Nene shared a joint statement on sharing the unfortunate news.
According to reports, Madhuri Dixit's mother's last rites will be held on March 12, 2023, at 3 pm at a crematorium in Worli, Mumbai. The actress shared the heartbreaking news with her husband, Dr Nene, and revealed that her aai, Snehlata passed away peacefully in the morning while surrounded by all the people she loved. The statement can be read as:
"Our beloved Aai, Snehalata Dikshit, passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones."

Over the years, Madhuri Dixit has gained a lot of name and fame. However, she always credited her success to her mother, Snehlata Dixit. She often shared that her upbringing played a huge role in that her success never got to her head. She even recounted an episode of how her mother's behaviour towards her never changed even after becoming a successful actor. Sharing an anecdote of her life, Madhuri had once shared that her mother used to scold her if her room was in a mess.
In 2013, Madhuri's mother joined her in recording a song for Gulab Gang. In an interview, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha revealed that they had asked Madhuri to sing a song for the movie. She came to the recording with her mother, Snehlata Dixit, and during the session, they learned that her mother was also an amazing singer.
