One of the most frequent jodis Tinseltown has mostly witnessed was between film actors and cricketers. While there is obviously no direct connection between the two, however, we have seen many divas finding their soulmates in eminent cricketers. Well then, take a look at this rather unfinished tale of love between Bollywood’s dhak dhak girl, Madhuri Dixit and one of the star cricketers of yesteryear, Ajay Jadeja.

For those wondering where and how this seemingly uncommon pair met, well, it was when the duo came together for a photoshoot. It did not become a buzz initially as it was not the first time when Madhuri’s personal life came under the scanner of speculation. Previously she was rumoured to be dating Anil Kapoor, and thereafter, her alleged affair with Sanjay Dutt became the talk of the town. However, with Ajay, things were certainly different.
Soon after the gossip mills started making two out of the twos, it was also reported thereafter that Ajay wished to join Bollywood and had asked help from Madhuri about the same. It was said that he wished to follow his ladylove as he was totally mesmerised by the glamour world. For the unversed, Ajay was one of the star cricketers of the 90s, and was even the vice-captain of team India at that point in time. As Madhuri was totally enamoured by the charms of the young cricket champ, she was soon convinced to talk to some of the A-listed producers of the film fraternity in order to help Ajay establish a film career as well.

All was sailing smoothly between the couple, and they were speculated to have decided to take the plunge, when in 1999, Ajay’s name was pulled in one of the biggest match-fixing scandals of Indian cricket, along with Mohammad Azharuddin. This came as a shocking blow to Jadeja’s cricket career as he was immediately banned for a tenure of 5 years. Moreover, it also brought to an end his alleged affair with Madhuri as neither she nor her family was ready to accept such a scandal to his name.

After this last bitter blow in her personal life, Madhuri decided to completely back off from any romantic relationships at that moment and instead focussed all her heart and soul on films. It was precisely this time when with the help of a secret match-making plan by her brother, Madhuri met her future hubby, Shriram Nene in the U.S. And they say, the rest is history as the couple went on to tie the knot in the same year.
While Madhuri Dixit moved on in her life after this unfinished affair with Ajay Jadeja, the latter also chose a new path for himself. Ajay married his schoolmate, Aditi Jaitley in March 2001. For the unversed, Aditi is the daughter of famous politician, Jaya Jaitely and Ashok Jaitely, who was the former chief secretary of Jammu and Kashmir. Moreover, Aditi is a talented and renowned Bharatnatyam artist as well. The duo are blessed with two children, Aiman and Ameera.
