Filmmaker, Sooraj Barjatya recently revealed how Madhuri Dixit convinced the makers of 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' to have Salman Khan wear a nighty.

Madhuri Insisted Salman Wears Nighty In 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' Sooraj's Dad Called It 'Inappropriate'

Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit became the favourite on-screen couple of all time with their phenomenal portrayal of 'Prem' and 'Nisha' in Hum Aapke Hain Koun. The film became one of the most beloved films in the history of Hindi cinema. Recently, the film's director, Sooraj Barjatya, appeared on the singing reality show, Indian Idol, where contestant, Ritika performed the iconic song, Didi Tera Devar Deewana.

Sooraj Barjatya recalls how Madhuri Dixit convinced the makers to have Salman wear a nighty

Sooraj Barjatya felt like he went back in time with the remarkable performance. He then shared an interesting anecdote from the set of the film, Hum Aapke Hai Kaun. He revealed how Madhuri convinced the makers of the film to have Salman Khan wear a nighty by the end of the song, Didi Tera Dewar Deewana.

During the show, Sooraj revealed how he came up with the idea to end the song on a fun note and have Salman wear a nighty. However, when he presented the idea to his father, he was not okay with it and rejected the idea. The filmmaker recalled the anecdote and stated:

"This was a long and elaborate song that required 16 days of rehearsals and 9 days of filming. We wanted to end it on a high note, with a fun and victorious celebration. I suggested to my father that Salman should wear a nighty for the final scene. While Salman instantly agreed, my father rejected the idea, finding it inappropriate."

In the same conversation, Sooraj Barjatya revealed that despite the rejection from his father, he went ahead and ran the idea through the cast and crew of the film. He revealed that he decided to put the idea for a vote among the females on the set, and to his surprise, they found it hilarious. He shared how even Madhuri Dixit loved his idea and showed her full support to the director.

That is how the song, as we know it, came into existence. Madhuri was so thrilled about Salman Khan wearing a nighty that she even did his makeup for the scene. The director concluded by thanking the contestant, Ritika, for bringing back the memories and stated:

"But the entire team was so enthusiastic about it that we decided to put it to a vote among the ladies on set. All the dancers, including Madhuri, found the idea hilarious and insisted we go ahead with it. In the end, Madhuri herself did Salman’s makeup for the scene. Hum Aapke Hain Koun was one of the highest-grossing Indian films in 1994. The film featured a 14-song soundtrack, with most of the songs continuing to become evergreen hits. However, these many songs were an anomaly, even for the 90s, and yet the film broke many box office records at the time. Hum Aapke Hain Koun remains one of the most influential films in Indian cinema.
