Shah Rukh Khan, in 2022, noticed that he had paid an excess amount to the collector, Mumbai Suburban District, for the land on which his home, 'Mannat', stands. After two years, it seems like the Maharashtra government might approve a petition by actor Shah Rukh Khan's petition.
The bungalow — Mannat, is owned by Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, at Band Stand, Bandra West. The sprawling building is on a land parcel leased by the state government to the original owner, who decided to sell it to Shah Rukh Khan after the deal was approved.
Later, the Khans took advantage of the state government police, which allowed the conversion of the leased property to complete ownership. They paid 25 percent of the price in March 2019, as per the police, which was calculated to be around Rs. 27.50 crores.
According to sources, Shah Rukh realised there was an 'error' on the part of the state government while calculating the conversion fee. They valued the bungalow instead of the piece of land while calculating the conversion fee.
The 'unintentional error' by the said authorities came to Shah Rukh's notice in September 2022. After this, Gauri made a representation before the collector, seeking a refund of the excess amount, which is around Rs. 9 crore. According to Free Press Journal, the request was forwarded to the state government for final approval, and the excess payment would be refunded.

For those who don't know, Shah Rukh first saw his home, Mannat, in 1997, and it was called Villa Vienna back then. The actor was filming for the movie, Yes Boss, and had fallen in love with the beauty of the property, which had belonged to Gujarati businessman, Nariman Dubas. In the year 2001, the actor bought the lavish property and named it 'Mannat', as it was his prayer to the universe.
The six-storeyed building has two beautiful living rooms, which are connected by elevators. It is decorated with paintings of M.F Hussain, as well as antiques and other valuables. The house also has an entire floor for his kids' playroom, a library, a prayer room, a private bar and a 24x7 working kitchen. They also have a mini home theatre for the film-loving family.
The multi-storeyed building is beautifully designed by Shah Rukh's wife Gauri. The actor had worked super hard to buy this dreamland for his family. For the unversed, Shah Rukh's home reportedly now costs around Rs. 200 crores.
On the work front, Shah Rukh Khan is working on a film with his daughter, Suhana Khan called King.
