We have often come across incidents where we found how a person tries to protect or do anything for love. Recently, a shocking incident in Kalyan, Maharashtra, has again highlighted how a person can become irrational if something bothers their beloved. A CCTV footage video from a showroom in Kalyan has surfaced on the internet, showing a young man in conversation with the shop owner. However, he suddenly became angry and started ripping a costly lehenga that his fiancee had bought a month earlier.

Man gets angry after shopkeeper refuses to give a refund for a lehenga

It all started when the bride-to-be, Meghna Makhija, bought a lehenga from a shop in Kalyan, Maharashtra, on June 17, 2025. On the same evening, Meghna called up to say that she didn’t like the outfit and thus wanted to return it. In response, she was informed that there is no refund policy, but a person can obtain a credit note, which can be used to purchase another item from the shop within two months. Hearing this, Meghna returns to the shop a month later on July 19, 2025.

After reaching the shop, the bride-to-be was informed by a salesman that they were currently holding a stock clearance sale, and she would need to return next month. However, a while later, Meghna’s fiance, Sumit Sayani, barged into the showroom. He demanded a refund, and when the shop owner refused to give it, Sumit became angry and started ripping the lehenga and the blouse, worth Rs. 32,300. The entire incident was captured on the shop's CCTV footage.

Man gets arrested after creating ruckus at the clothing shop

Sumit not only ripped the costly lehenga but also threatened the shopkeeper with a knife. According to a report by Times Now, Sumit was quoted as saying, "You’ll be ripped apart like this too. Give me my money back." Fearing for his safety, the shop owner lodged a police complaint at Bazarpeth police station, and based on the complaint, Sumit was arrested. According to the complaint, Sumit demanded Rs. 3 lakh and also threatened to post a negative review on Google about the store’s service. A senior inspector at Bazarpeth police station stated that Sumit has confessed to creating the ruckus at the clothing store in a fit of rage. According to multiple reports, Sumit was granted immediate bail, and the investigation is still underway.

The CCTV footage has surfaced online and is being shared across all social media platforms. Many netizens have reacted to the now viral video featuring Sumit. Calling weddings a booming business, one user wrote, "This shadi etc has become a booming business due to the Need to follow trends and show off. People don’t even realise that. Why do you need a lehenga that you will wear only a few times, lady? To start with. Save for your future holidays rather than get into this trap." Slamming Sumit’s action, one user commented, "No matter what the situation, this much anger is not justified under any circumstances." Another user penned, "Red flag.. wonder what would happen after marriage." Another user wrote, "The would-be bride should RUN away from this man, as far as she can without looking BACK..!!"
