Mahesh Bhatt is a well-known filmmaker in Bollywood. He made some of the most popular films in the 80s and 90s and his daughter, Alia Bhatt who is considered as one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood. Recently, the filmmaker shared his views on Alia's performance in her debut film and how she has evolved as an actor. Also, he revealed how the Ajay Devgn’s father asked him to cast the actor in a film.
In the same interview, Mahesh Bhat shared that his daughter, Alia Bhatt, was like a 'mannequin' in her debut film, Student of the Year co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. But, he was moved by her acting in Udta Punjab and Highway. He said:
"Her raw power, and her ability to get into such a vulnerable space, and bare her heart. Highway and Udta Punjab… It was a departure from that girl who was just a mannequin in Student of the Year. You see the evolution in your child also."

A few days ago, Ajay Devgn gave an interview with The Lallantop and shared that he wanted to work with Mahesh Bhatt, who earlier said Zakhm would be his last film. The filmmaker called him through the landline since there were no phones earlier, and Ajay quickly agreed to it in a shower. Recently, Mahesh Bhatt shared that certain events led Ajay Devgn to agree to the film while he was in a shower. He was quoted by India Today as saying:
"It depends on the unique relationship the maker has with the particular actor. There was a runup to the call I made. And the very fact that I got through to him while he was in the shower was because of that unique runup that we had."
Mahesh Bhatt further revealed that Ajay Devgan's father, Veeru Devgn, asked him to cast his son in a film. For the unversed, Veeru Devgan was a famous stuntman in the industry, and he started his journey with Mahesh Bhatt through the film, Mera Gaon Mera Desh. Veeru Devgan held the opinion that starring in Mahesh Bhatt's film would highlight the acting abilities of Ajay, who was already a star then. In Mahesh's words:
"He was the one who told me, why don't you take my son? If he will work with you, he will become an actor as he is already a star."

Last month, Mahesh promoted his brother, Vikram Bhatt's film, Bloody Ishq. In a media interaction, he announced that he had become outdated and would not direct any film in the future. However, the filmmaker shared that he would continue to mentor new filmmakers with the knowledge he had gathered over the years. His last film was, Sadak 2, starring his daughter, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt.
