Mahesh Manjrekar is a popular name when it comes to Marathi film industry. The actor also worked in Bollywood films like Oh My God, Ready, Wanted, Dabangg and many more. Not only acting, Mahesh also excelled both as a director and producer. Mahesh also worked as TV host for the Marathi show, Bigg Boss.
The veteran actor has been in the news for both his work front and personal front. Mahesh Manjrekar and his wife, Medha Manjrekar, marked their presence as a couple well, and their filmy love story was once the talk of the town. But little do people know, Mahesh Majrekar had a marriage earlier. Read on to know the veteran actor’s love story, marriages and how he fought the deadly cancer.
Mahesh Manjrekar tied the knot with Deepa Mehta, a costume designer, in 1987. The duo used to know each other and have been together since their college days. The couple became parents to two children, a daughter, Ashwami Manjrekar and a son, Satya Manjrekar. But in 1995, their marriage had hit a rough patch, and the two got divorced. However, Ashwami and Satya stayed back with their father, Mahesh.
The love story between Mahesh and Medha began back in 1995. Mahesh met Medha for the first time, when the veteran actor was directing the film, Aai. It was love at first sight for Mahesh. He wanted to cast Medha in his film and thought that Medha would do well as an actress. The veteran actor also managed to get Medha’s phone number from Indian actress, Neena Kulkarni.
Mahesh was kind of adamant about casting Medha in his film, even after knowing that she was a debutant from Neena. The legendary actor called Medha and offered her the film. Medha had one condition before signing for the film. As she was on a Europe tour at the time when Mahesh offered her the film, she told the veteran actor that she could shoot only after she returned back from the actor. Mahesh didn’t give a second thought and agreed to Medha’s condition. He also postponed the shoot for her.

The age-gap romance started between Mahesh and Medha when they started working together. As per The Times of India report, Mahesh once wrote a love letter to Medha with his blood. In 1995, Mahesh tied the knot with Medha, who was nine years older than him. Since then, the duo have been happily married couple. The couple welcomed their child, one daughter, Saiee Manjrekar. Medha was previously married and had a daughter, Gauri Ingawale.
In an episode of Bas Bai Bas, Mahesh’s second wife, Medha, once shared how Mahesh fought like a warrior when he was diagnosed with cancer. The veteran actor didn’t stop working and also did shooting for the film, Antim: The Final Truth. He underwent chemotherapy and also had an 11-hour surgery. Speaking of the same, Medha said:
"Mahesh's cancer was a shock for us because he never even had fever. He never got ill. But Mahesh took the serious disease in his own way and he asked me 'let's face it'. He went for chemo and surgery and it went on for 11 hours. He was tension free and we would get inspired seeing him. His first thing was not to make a big issue of his cancer. He also shot the film 'Antim'. He did not stop working. He is a warrior. No matter how many obstacles he faces, he never falls. He has immense love for work."
Mahesh Manjrekar became father to Saiee Manjrekar after his marriage with Medha Manjrekar. Saiee Manjrekar made her debut in Bollywood with her father in Salman Khan's Dabangg 3. She worked in films that included Major and Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay. Mahesh's step-daughter, Gauri Ingawale, is also an actress and did films like Panghrun, Hi Anokhi Gath, and De Dhakka 2. Mahesh and Deepa's children, Ashwimi and Satya, also belong to the same acting profession.
