Malaika Arora's father, Anil Mehta, has left for the heavenly abode as he committed suicide on September 11, 2024. The 65-year-old reportedly jumped from the sixth floor of his apartment in Bandra, where he lived with his ex-wife, Joyce Polycarp. For the unversed, Anil and Joyce parted ways when Malaika was just 11 years old, but they started living together after a few years.
A day after Malaika Arora’s father, Anil Mehta's demise, the police took his body for post-mortem. According to a report in News18, it has been revealed that the post-mortem was conducted on the night of September 11, 2024, at around 8 pm. A source revealed that in the report, it was mentioned that the cause behind Anil's death was multiple injuries. However, more details are awaited.

Anil Mehta reportedly committed suicide at around 9 am on September 11, 2024, and Mumbai Police swiftly transported him to a hospital. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead before reaching the hospital. Now, in a recent interview with FilmiBeat, one of Anil Mehta's neighbours, a woman in her mid-50s, talked about his close relationship with his family and said:
"Malaika shared a great bond with Anil Arora. They often partied together. Arhaan, who is Malaika Arora's son, even lived here for a while. Anil Arora lived on the sixth floor. He shared a good relationship with Joyce despite their divorce."
She further continued that Anil Mehta was a jolly person and mingled with everyone. She also recalled how he personally came to inspect things when there was a leakage issue in their neighbour's house. However, she also revealed that she found him low on energy a few days before his demise. The woman was quoted as saying:
"A few days ago, there was a leakage issue in our neighbour's house. Anil personally came to inspect things. He was a jolly person, who often cracked jokes. When I met him a few days ago, he seemed 'low on energy'. Usually, Anil was always happy and mingled with everyone. This time, I found him lacking that energy."
Earlier, reports were rife that Anil Mehta was battling depression for some time now, which might have led him to take the drastic step. However, when the woman was asked to reveal if she ever noticed something like that, she said that she cannot comment if Anil faced mental health issues. However, she revealed that he had been low on energy for the past few days. In her words:

On September 11, 2024, Malaika Arora took to her IG handle and shared the first note after her father, Anil Mehta's demise. The picture featured Anil Mehta's photo in the bottom left corner, along with a note that informed about his passing. In the note, Malaika called him a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and their best friend. Adding that their family is in deep shock, Malaika requested privacy in these difficult times. Her note could be read as:
"We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock by the loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult times. We appreciate your understanding, support and respect."
